Open Thread: Spring Training Game 8 - A's at Giants

The A's are splitting up the squads today, which pretty much defines my headache this morning.  Oh well; it only hurts when I type.

A portion of Bob Geren's crew will be in Phoenix, taking on South Africa's WBC conglomerate, while the rest of the team will be in Scottsdale to do battle with the San Francisco Giants.  12:05 start.

Trevor takes the (Ca)hill for the good guys, opposite Joe Martinez.

Orlando Cabrera is in camp, and there's a unicorn in the starting lineup.

Athletics

Buck, RF
Sweeney, CF
Holliday, LF
Giambi, 1B
Ellis, DH
Suzuki, C
Dillon, 3B
Petit, SS
Wimberly, 2B

Giants

Torres, CF
Frandsen, 2B
Bowker, RF
Guzman, 3B
Ishikawa, 1B
Aurilia, DH
Uribe, SS
Holm, C
Velez, LF

the chronicle says the game is on 680 and 860

it also says the game tomorrow is being broadcast on 1050. not sure how reliable that information is, however.

Off Topic:

Is it just me or does it seem like we hear waaaaaaaay too much from A-Rod’s family and the friends when we hear news about him. His cousin injects him, he dates Madonna, he publicly divorces, his brother reports his injury news, etc…

I've actually never gotten the impression that ARod is a jerk

It’s not his fault that the media flocks to him.

by thejd44 on Mar 5, 2009 1:29 PM PST up reply actions

I should clarify this

Yeah, ARod’s done some bad stuff. But when I think of an asshat, I think of Bonds or Clemens or someone like that. ARod doesn’t appear to be like those guys at all.

Yup. Rodriguez doesn't appear to seek out the publicity.
