Open Thread: Spring Training Game 8 - A's at Giants
The A's are splitting up the squads today, which pretty much defines my headache this morning. Oh well; it only hurts when I type.
A portion of Bob Geren's crew will be in Phoenix, taking on South Africa's WBC conglomerate, while the rest of the team will be in Scottsdale to do battle with the San Francisco Giants. 12:05 start.
Trevor takes the (Ca)hill for the good guys, opposite Joe Martinez.
Orlando Cabrera is in camp, and there's a unicorn in the starting lineup.

I may need you to pick up the slack today if this pain persists. You can do it.

Yeah

Of course, this score is making me smile.

LOL!
That is so great! We need to learn that and sing it the next time they come to town.

actually
since i moved here, i’ve thought the quality of the chants could use some work.
not that i’d ever get tired of “let’s go/ oakland”
if you hear someone trying to chant that one, that’s probably me.
that and “Bobby Geren’s / Green and Gold Army”

I think it's because the crowds
are not so big in general. During the playoffs we rock the house pretty good.

"I’m Joey Devine, I’m what Joba Chamberlain would be if he was good and nobody had ever heard of him."
the chronicle says the game is on 680 and 860
it also says the game tomorrow is being broadcast on 1050. not sure how reliable that information is, however.
I like how 860 website
says they will air 18 spring games, but does not list them.
Just as a list for the whole spring training a’s schedule. Without saying which they are broadcasting.

Yea so why would A's vs Seattle be on 1050 tomorrow
that is kinda weird. Don’t know if that is believable.

i couldn't figure that out either.
i listen to these stations all day and i haven’t heard one advertisement indicating that is true.

Geren interviewing right now
says that Vinny Mazarro was clocked at 96 mph in his appearance versus the D-backs on Sunday….plus nasty movement on his pitches. Wow! s
sounds pretty good to me.
Zeigler to Geren…."A-Rod? He’s my bitch." -alox
I was there...
And yes, he looked amazing. The highest I saw on the guns there was 94, but did not check on all his pitches. He made the D-backs batters look foolish, with some really terrible looking swings.

Well, if things progress like this
Me thinks we might see the likes of Mazarro & Cahill sooner than later. Anyone know when Bret Anderson pitches again?
