Dontrelle coming home?

Just a thought people, but this kid is from Alameda and has said publicly that he was an A's fan as a kid. The thinking is that the Tigers pay some (or alot) of that contract and send him here for a low level prospect thus maybe helping him get on track being home, i personally would like to see the guy succeed, he's a hometown boy and a good ambassodor  for the game.

I'd love to see this....

But I can’t imagine the Tigers are going to pay for him to go elsewhere. Better to pay him while he works through this and might someday be effective for them.

That said, I love the guy. And his mom is pretty cool, too.

issues

“anxiety” my left toe, he sucks right now, flat out, but a change of scenery is cool it helped Eck, he was on the way to retirement until he met Dave Duncan now all of a sudden he’s a hall-of-famer.

Have you read anything about the disorder so far?

I’m assuming you think he’s a headcase or something. He said they found something in his blood and wanted to check into it further. He’s not the first professional athlete to have some kind of disorder, whatever they end up diagnosing it as. If nothing else, he’s not depressed – he’s one of the most upbeat guys you’ll find.

And…fat? Since when? He’s 6’4" and 225, at least according to the official figures. It’s not like he’s Sid Fernandez or Rich Garces.

Also, could you please use a little capitalization here? Thanks.

What seems odd to me is that

anxiety disorders are not usually detectable by blood tests, are they? Unless “anxiety disorder” is being used as short-hand for something else, I’m a bit confused.

I honestly have no idea

All I know is this doesn’t sound normal and I hope things are all right with him.

It's an unusual diagnosis...

It’s possible that he has an anxiety disorder secondary to some medical condition that was found in his blood work. Maybe he has an overactive thyroid gland causing him to have the shakes and nervousness.

It is still a really weird way of describing his condition. In the press release, the Tigers didn’t want to release more medical details because of privacy laws – but revealing his anxiety disorder violates the same principle.

To put him on the DL maybe they have to at least say that much

It’s a little secretive and vague but nowhere near how the NHL gets with it (think “lower body injury”).

Tigers not paying

What willis makes I doubt they will cut him lose. I do think a trade to the dodgers for Pierre would be a good deal but who knows.

Pierre is worse than Willis

at least Willis was good at one time.

I agree whole heartedly. Pierre and Gary Matthews Jr. should start a charity with all the money they robbed in LA. Of course, I ain’t complainin’ if the Angels are on the hook for 3 more years of GM Jr.

Willis has tons of mechanical issues

which have gone from bad to worse over the last couple of years. The anxiety is probably the result of bad outings which is probably the result of mechanical issues that are probably the result of injuries stemming from mechanical issues.

He needs to take time off—whether here or there or anywhere—and figure out what’s wrong with his motion. He could return to form (probably not 22-10, 2.63 form, but definitely a 304 innings eater type) if he does that.

304 is a hell of a lot of innings to eat

If Livan Hernandez and Joe Blanton were stitched together, re-named Jovan Herblantón, and skipped a day’s worth of meals, Jovan could probably eat 304 innings.

But not too many other guys could. Definitely not the D-Train.

It's not.

A good ambassador of the game is a good role model. Someone like Roberto Clemente who is selfless and gives back to the community. Drunk driving isn’t a dumb move… its something that regularly kills innocent people just pisses me off.

Where did I say mistake v. choice?

And why is that relevant?

All kinds of people make bad choices. Most of those mistakes are forgivable. DUI, is a horribly bad choice/mistake. No argument form me on that. But DUI is also punishable by law and once somebody pays the piper they have every right to redeem themselves.

Hell, Steve Howe had like 7 chances to redeem himself.

He makes too much

I don’t think Detroit will cut him loose with so much money owed to him, and it would be crazy to trade for him.

That said I would love to see him end up with the A’s at some point. I played on the same Boys Club league b-ball team with Dontrelle back in middle school. He was a really cool kid and seamed to be a huge A’s fan. I’ve always rooted for him to do well, and it would be awesome if he could one day revive his career in the green and gold.
