Open Thread: Spring Training Game 13 - A's at Rockies
No, Mark Ellis isn't playing 2B yet, Eric Chavez' return to the field keeps getting delayed, and Justin Duchscherer is back to just throwing and seeing how he feels the next day. This is when it's important to remember that Opening Day is still 4 weeks away, that usually on March 10th the Cactus League has barely begun and only because of the WBC does it seem like we've been in spring training forever and Opening Day is just around the corner. Fortunately, for the A's, Angels (E. Santana), Yankees (A-Rod), and others, it isn't.
The A's visit the Rockies at 1:00pm today, with Trevor Cahill slated to continue his audition to steal a spot in the A's rotation. Cahill has dominated the Cactus League so far with 5 IP of 1 hit ball, walking one, striking out 5, and drawing rave reviews from scouts.
Someone please post/note the lineups when they are available, as come game time I will be busy brainwashing demoralizing molding impressionable young minds.

Which station is the Wimberly interview on?
Gameday audio is not up.
If ever a game should have been called on account of wind, that one was it. Good thing Jerry Blevins didn't have to pitch; he's tall, skinny, and I could practically see one of the 40-mph gusts...sweeping him off the bump and pinning him to the left-field fence. --Mychael Urban

So what did he say about his old school stirrups?
He said he's done it for a few years now.
And that it was just his “game”.

He also does it to sort of "pay homage" to those who came before him
said Ozzie Smith was one of his favorites & that Wimberly even does a back flip before games

Stupid Angels story. My favorite part:
The way Angels manager Mike Scioscia sees it, they’ll be a better, more balanced team without Teixeira.
He probably views winter in Saskatchewan as better and less rainy than LA.

hey! it's been a rainy winter down here...
and Saskatchewanian winters probably would be better in Scioscia’s view anyways.

GTFO Schroder!
"With 16-year-old Dominican righty Michel Inoa in tow, Gio Gonzalez improving at Triple-A and lefty Brett Anderson carving up Double-Abatters along with Simmons and Trevor Cahill, Oakland’s pitching depthis officially the envy of baseball." - BaseballAmerica.com
"We're sorry Schroder...
…but with that Spring outing, you have fallen behind Jeff Gray in our bullpen depth chart. We are deeply sorry."

Schroder can't pitch
…didn’t Billy ever watch Peanuts…though it sounds like Schroder’s throwing a bit like Charlie Brown out there.

If Holliday hits .409 amd Sweeney .500

Cust K's swinging on a wild pitch (seriously), Holliday to 2nd
while Buan tells the same boring story for the 46th time this spring.

Does that mean you are done counting?
If ever a game should have been called on account of wind, that one was it. Good thing Jerry Blevins didn't have to pitch; he's tall, skinny, and I could practically see one of the 40-mph gusts...sweeping him off the bump and pinning him to the left-field fence. --Mychael Urban
Excuse me?

Too easy. Your question...not me!
But yes! I am happy you are done counting.

Love the PXP.
The counting…not so much.

I need to find travel arrangements first.

Based on the above, I’d venture “nap.” Looks like you were hitting on all uh, cylinders.

1 out, runners at first and second
Thanks to Gallagher’s throw to third to nail the runner on a sac bunt attempt, if I was listening correctly (which I am doing sporadically while I try to get some work done).
Now 10-5 Rockies
Gallagher as a reliever? Not so effective. Curt Young now out to try to give him some tips.
Gallagher should stick to his night job...
…where he co-stars with watermelons. I am beginning to feel like Gallagher has passed his sickness on to me. I’m not feeling so well.

If I were a superstitious person
this would be the time when I would vow to never make and eat a hummus wrap during an A’s game ever again.
Hummus?
And here I thought it was Schroder and Gallagher stinking the place up.
