Photos from 2009 FanFest
In no particular order, and certainly, no particular comments, my "raw feed" from the February 8th fanfest is available to anyone caring to link to the pages online with Flicker. Here is the address:

These are 2MB-plus photos, so if you look like an ant, just blow it big and you'll still see that mole that Mom said no one would ever notice.
This event was held in a glass-casting showroom, so every flat surface you spy in these photos is a 2-inch thick piece of glass. I mean everything...the stairs, the table tops, counter tops. So if you wonder..."Why is that photo in the mix??!!" it is because the glass was very very impressive, and added a unique ambiance to the whole event. That shower stall in the bathroom, with floor to ceiling glass was something special. Thanks again to Lynn for providing this space.

Thanks for being there
I felt everyone was just great, with the conversation and making it all fun!
I suggest running the slide show on Flickr. The button for doing that is on the right side of the screen, pretty tiny button. Best resolution is with the slide show.
Officially awaiting the 2009 season.

Thanks, the feeling is reciprocal
Good stories, doctorK. It was a plus that you brought your family.

Great pics! Wish I could have been there today. Hope everyone had fun. Cheers!

I have never been to any AN days...
and have only met 3 ANers ever…but I recognize a bunch of people from past pic sites…is that sad or what?
I will this year, Pam.
I wanted to last year but you guys had it the day before we left for vacation in NY and I had too many loose ends to tie up before we could go. Hopefully this is the year that we make it ! I didn’t go today because noone in my family wanted to come with me and I didn’t want to show up by myself.
Sadly, I'm one of the three she's met,
which explains why she’s not keen to meet more.

Thanks
for posting these. It was great talking to you and all who attended. And thanks to the A’s marketing department for bringing the bag of swag! Whoever out there is with the team and was playing sANta, the items were scooped up with glee.
Thanks for reminding me why I always try to avoid being photographed

Rubbish!
You simply had your hat on at the wrong angle.
Try it positioned on the back of your head, with the bill pointing up at about a theirty degree angle. I walked into Peet’s with mine set like that, and the counter-person immediately blurted out before I could open my mouth..
“You look like you’re about ten years old.”
Hey, kids always look good!

The counter-person was Michael Jackson,
and you should have run.

These are great pics!
You’re pretty good at photographing the glass, not an easy thing.

I think the natural light filtering in made the difference
It wasn’t too contrasty. As you know, photographing glass usually results in a blinding fireball in the middle of everything. In most cases indoors the camera sez, “I’m gonna let loose with a lightning bolt on this one.” In addition, when the red beam went out to measure distance, I could tell if I was going to get too much reflection, so I’d change position if it looked like it would turn out badly.

The bathroom was John's attempt
at a combination of Jackson Pollock and Mondriaan. You can see their influence in a lot of his art pieces.

I've been SO crazy busy
it’s not even funny. :( I really miss this place — I hope I’ll find more time really soon!!!! :( right now I’m just trying to find time to sleep/eat/breathe decently — not meaning to copy Poppy.

small sample size
I was worried I would be twenty years older than…heck, THIRTY years older than…
…but you know what, you would have had fun no matter what. It was just that kind of vibe, everyone there was about feeling great that we all knew, we all in that showroom were A’s fans!!
Without ever saying it, it was implied “We love cheering for the A’s and we exult when the A’s win” and that’s all that mattered! Old/young, rich/poor, it was a cool, cool sensation.

most shipping containers travel less than 96% full
You might even find one with plenty of horizontal space near the roof, so you can simply sleep on the three day journey by rail and truck across the continent.
