Any A's fans near Charlotte, NC?
I moved to the Charlotte, NC area early least year, and am in danger of going insane without a major league club here. In addition, I haven't had any luck finding any A's fans. Would love to meet up with some A's fans and take over a bar for a game. Or if nothing else, have folks come over, have a BBQ, and watch the A's at my place, with the Direc TV Baseball package. (Assuming my wife approves, of course.) :)
So, are any of you out there?

My parents live in Davidson
But they’re not A’s fans, and I’ve never lived there. So I’m not much help.
There is the Charlotte Knights International League squad, AAA farm team to White Sox. And their ballpark has cool grass hill seating along each baseline. If you go, be sure to heckle Octavio Dotel on one of his frequent rehab stints.

What's your closest team?
Is it the Braves?

Yeah, it's the Braves.
But there are several minor league teams around that I’ll be checking out. Just wish there were some A’s fans out here!
Tear down Mount Davis!
I used to live in Charlotte for a year.
Liked it.

I guess know you have a good excuse
to start practicing your chop.
I live in DC and I guess that my NL team would be the Nationals. I’d rather it be the Braves though.

Chapel Hil here
Thank god the baseball team we have is good. Hopefully Ackley or White end up getting drafted by the A’s! XD
And you can still go watch the Durham Bulls, they’re not MLB but the games are great and they always have good prospects on the field

I was in Wake Forest...
but now live near Jacksonville.
Wait for the the 2009 Oaklands A's season to start I can not. Herh herh herh.
Just be patient
There will be plenty of A’s fans there eventually.

Well
I’m the only A’s fan in all of Michigan, I can pretty much assure you of that. Are we doing a census here on AN? We oughtta.
Not just athletes, Athletics.
I did one in 2005...
But it was cumbersome to maintain and only encompassed a small fraction of the usership here. If I can find a simple (read automated) way to do it again this summer I wouldn’t mind doing it again.

I'm in Asheville
My almost 13-year-old son and I are fans. We’re going to Oakland this spring for the home opener (for his birthday), so going to a sports bar in Charlotte is way doable.
A's fan near South Park
I am a devout A’s fan, attended 72-74-89 world series and each summer, I go to an east coast game – saw the A’s return to PHL in 03— people wore PHL A’s hats – and also to Wrigley in 04 and to ATL in 2008. Also have gone to Detroit, Baltimore and Boston for A’s games. I have kids now and little free time but I would like to get together one evening for a while to watch a game and discuss the A’s and maybe drink some Olympia Beer – I know, that last one is impossible. I just got digital cable and will be able to watch many games this year with the extra innings package. What part of town are you in?

Are you kidding?
Any A’s fans near Charlotte- dude, I am THE #1 A’s fan in this area. I actually live in the neighboring County but work in Charlotte, I share the same sentiment as you- it is tought being a fan of a team so far away but I have been doing it for more than thirty years, so I’m used to it.

Hmm...Baseball Prospectus does have you at #1,
but three other publications have you somewhere between #3-#7.

Another transplanted Oaklander
Just moved to Charlotte, but have been in the tar heel state for almost 4 years. Finally forked out for the Extra Innings package because I was sick of missing games. It would be great to get together with other A’s fans and watch the one or two games a month that is not on at 10pm est.
Lets see if we can get all 4 fans together sometime.

regarding a meeting of Charlotte A's fans:
Once the season starts, let’s pick a sports bar in the South Charlotte area where we can get together and pretend to watch a game while talking about the A’s. Let’s do this either on a weekday night or a Sunday afternoon, when the A’s are playing in the eastern time zone. I don’t really know of a suitable bar, although there is that Boston-oriented sports place down in Matthews town center.
