Around SBN: MLB Trade Deadline: Phils, Astros complete Roy Oswalt deal

Now that the angels signed abreu could the A's strongly go after Dunn??

So as of this morning the angels signed Abreu to a 1 year deal worth $5 mill so that said do you guys think the A's will strongly go after Dunn an say screw O-Cab?? id rather see Dunn with the A's and hit 40+ homeruns than O-Cabs 8 homeruns and 57 RBI's thats not that much of an upgrade to bobby crosby's had 7 Hr and 61 RBI's so think about it that would be stupid to sign O-Cab when bobby crosby had another bad year and still had more RBI's then him..plus I think that bobby crosbys going to bounce back this year..I like Buck alot but i really dont think he'll hit 35+hrs so beane just needs to jump allover Dunn ASAP!!!With Dunn the A's would have a scary lineup think about it??

1.Sweeney CF

2.Cust DH

3.Holliday LF

4.Dunn RF

5.Giambi 1B

6.Chavez 3B

7.Suzuki C

8.Crosby SS

9.Ellis 2B

You are using RBI's as part of your argument. That should say a lot.

But even so, I agree. I would rather watch Adam Dunn hit than Orlando Cabrera.

But the win diff between Cabrera and Crosby would probably be rather large. Even so, I still expect Cabrera to decline, and if he does, he might just become Crosby.

I think we've already covered this

Dunn isn’t worth it. Mainly his production isn’t worth block the progression of Buck/Sweeney. While Dunn can certainly produce offensively, his defense almost negates that value.

Meanwhile, I would expect his numbers to drop off going to the AL, a place he has already said he would rather avoid. I don’t see this happening.

By forcing Buck to the bench, we won’t get a chance to see if he can return or even better his 2007 numbers, something that would be much more valuable than Dunn.

"I think people in this state like BOTH teams," proclaims Nick Aliotti, the Ducks' defensive coordinator. "Except for our hard-core fans, I don't think most Duck fans would have been terribly upset to see Oregon State going to the Rose Bowl."

Another reason he needs to go.

Dunn would make the A's very deep in the OF/DH dept

but would also cripple the A’s in the defense dept, make a lineup more lefty heavy, (not a real big deal) and block Buck.

I wouldn’t mind him being on the A’s, of course, especially if Holliday leave next year, but I think it would have to be a multi year deal to really make sense. Having that kind of power on the lineup would be something, though. For one year you have at least 4-5 guys who can go yard 30+ times.

if we signed Dunn

it would probably mean that Dunn would DH and Cust would play RF.

A's remaining priorities

1. cabrera
2. lefty reliever…reyes, sisco, villone, etc
3. scrap heap sp…mulder
4. dunn, anderson, etc

maybe if they fail on cabrera, they may try for dunn, but i wouldnt count on it. looks like nl teams may also try for him

stop that

the dream is still alive

"If you hit .440 with 20 bombs, you don't have to do s---. You don't have to bring a glove to practice, just hit and leave whenever you want. You can bring a 40 and smoke a cigarette and call me from the parking lot asking me what time the game is, and I'll tell you. You can even say 'F--- you, Steve!' Actually, don't say that, that wouldn't be very nice." -Steve Friend, Head Coach, Chabot College Gladiators Baseball

I know. We have way too many 40 homer guys in the lineup.
