A Farewell For My Friend G. Michael Krohmer: R.I.P.

Fellow A's fans, today I carry a heavy heart and am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend George Michael Krohmer, who left this world much too soon at the age of 44. He was my former boss, friend, and a diehard A's fan! Back in July of this year he was diagnosed with cancer in his esophagus and managed to fight it till this last few weeks, until his body finally gave way.

He was a very funny and outspoken man, kind hearted, gentle, and we shared a favorite Athletic in one Justin Duchscherer. He often would chime in on all things A's and would occasionally lurk on AN, even though I don't think he ever signed up for an account. "Krohmer", as he was known to all who knew him, was a native of Texas, and was also a huge Oakland Raiders & Dallas Mavericks fan. He is survived by his wife and daughter. I will miss him dearly and this world & upcoming season will not be the same without him.

Rest in peace my brother and may your journey into the next realm be fulfilling...

I am sorry for your loss. I can’t say I know what you’re going through because I’ve never lost a friend. I lost my math teacher of three years ago about three months ago at the age of 26 and it was tough. My thoughts are with you and your friend’s family.

That's exactly when I knew something was really wrong

I sent him a text when Duke re-signed last week…and he did not return my message. And every Sunday we would text each other for Raiders football…same thing when the Raiders beat the Broncos. No response when typically he’s the first one to get back to me.

I was thinking maybe we could make a sign for him come opening day to honor his memory. He was such a hoot and I wanted to get him to an AN gathering next season, he would have had a great time with y’all. We also had talked about possibly making it out to ST for a few games this coming year…..I’m just crushed…

It means a lot to me that you even stopped to read the post. My wish for 2010 is to not have anybody in my family or circle of friends pass on….it’s been happening way too much the last three years. Although death is indeed a part of life, I could do without it for awhile. Here’s to a healthy and joyful New Year!
