A few months back, Don Marquez included a color shot of Joe D schooling the A's in '68 his post on DiMaggio and his own parents. This is Joe D on opening day in Baltimore in 1968.

Love it.
I'm here to talk about the past.

When they got to Oakland
Joe asked Manager Bob Kennedy, “So where’s my office?” Bob Kennedy pulled a drawer open in his desk and said “Here it is”. Thanks Charlie O.

That was a sure way to get DiMaggio out of the organization as soon as possible, given all his reserve and pride. Makes you wonder what could have happened has Before I got the above picture from the Chronicle covering the A’s first game, I had no idea Joe ever wore the A’s uniform.

Before I cut myself off in mid-sentence, I meant to say that you wonder what Joe would have gone on to do with the A’s if he’d been treated well by Finley.

Treated well by Finley?
That’s an oxymoron, he lived by My way or the highway. It’s too bad, if he treated people better who knows how long the dynasty would have lasted. Joe Rudi once said, if he would have just given us a little more money we would have stayed, we wanted to. Bummer.
