The AFL Rising Stars Showcase takes place tonight, and it will be on MLB Network. Oakland A's prospects Grant Desme and Jemile Weeks are playing in the game. For those of you like me, this will be the first baseball you have watched in well over a month. Needless to say, but I am excited and have been eagerly anticipating this game.
I know this is a small post, and could actually be a Fan Shot, but no one ever looks at um anyway and I want to spread the word to as many ANers as possible.
HOPEFULLY SOMEONE HERE WILL PUT UP A GAME THREAD SO WE CAN ALL KICK IT!!

Though that looked pretty painful for the runner. Guess he’s okay from how they’re all laughing about it.

I mean, which level, and are they selected by their leagues as the best of the best?
They could pick AAA guys in order to say to the players, “This is a serious level”. Or, they could use the AFL for the umps they way they use it for the players — as a way to challenge the most promising prospects, including lower-level guys.

Or they could pick Phil Cuzzi and Tim McClellan,
to give them some much needed practice.

Well......
both AA and AAA players are eligible for this game, but I would think the best are chosen as reward. At least thats how it works in the Bigs. But I dont know, google it…

Lots of discussion here in Philly about the Phils replacing Feliz
Sounds like they’re interested in moving on to someone else. The obvious thing would be to sign Chone or Beltre (if they get involved in a serious way, the A’s’ chances of getting one of them will go down substantially, I’d think).
But with their OF prospects (including Brown, who just beat out the DP relay and got CS), I wonder if they’ll consider trading Victorino to get a 3B. Victorino is good, but quite likely overvalued.

Yeah, I think the FA route is more likely
and with Ibanez in lF, they’ll have a hole in the OF withing a year or 2 in any case, even if they keep Victorino. I also haven’t thought about matchups for a trade. Just thinking out loud here.

When I first got the MLB app on my iPhone I was totally entranced. But it eats up the battery and heats up the iPhone something fierce… So I’m glad I can watch the game on the computer.

way too cool. In fact, Im thinking about dumping my BB for the New iPhone in a couple months when my contract is up. At least before next season. Thats way to good to pass up knowing how many games I usually miss.

my contract is up in January.......
The new Droid phones are supposed to surpass the iPhone, so this gives me time to wait and read the reviews a few months into the new Droid phone era, and maybe they will also have live video capability, but I have yet to do my research for my next phone so I dont know yet.

How long you watch games on it, and if the battery, heating up and tiny screen ever become a problem for you.
Don’t get me wrong – I love the iPhone (I’m writing with it right now). But it’s certainly not the best way to watch a game.

I’m actually watching it on the big screen on the wall. But if I were not home, I would watch it on my phone.

but she didn’t really seem to want to get into this game, since it’ll be a few years before we see many of these guys up in the bigs. However, now she has someone to look forward to.

he did not do that very well……..your not supposed to roll them, but instead make 1-2 inch folds that dont show under the pant leg.

Think they wanted to test him in the Mex league
because while its not a top prospect league, its a high level league that focuses on a weakness of Carter’s: Off Speed and Breaking pitches.
Also, there’s usually no shortage of 1B in the AFL.
