DLD - 11/07/2009 - How to Keep Yourself Occupied in the Off-Season

Well AN - here is my first foray into a fan post - spurred on by  67Marquez.  Partially in response to his question - "What are we gonna do now?"  I wondered whether a topical DLD is better than a random one.  I'll leave you to decide, AN.

You could see a movie or just skip to the short version or the 30 Second Bunny Theatre Version.

I know some of you have been neglecting your reading...so here are some suggestions for these long winter months

If you have been putting off all those Honey - Do - This projects you can get your inspiration here.

You can waste a lot of time over at You Tube and might find gems like the newest version of baseball (Go here if you wanna play) or freaky stunts that also involve the tools of baseball.

But I caution you that with all the time off you might be tempted to get into a little trouble.  Just don't do what they do in Florida (really?) or Minnesota. And here's an after story of what happens when the po-po need some bucks!

So - tell us AN - what WILL you be doing in the off season??  Have fun!

Absolutely love the zombie baseball game

It looks really cool. And the song by breaking Benjamin on the video is just awesome, I love them.

Still trying to find a job........

November 4th was the one year anniversary that I have been unemployed, and it hurts. I finished my MBA literally one week prior to Lehman Bro bankruptcy, and I lost my post grad job offer when the economy tanked. My MBA is great, but it doesn’t help that every other MBA has more experience than me cause I graduated right before the collapse, before I could get a job.

Oh well right, just gotta keep pluggin away I guess. So thats what Ima be doing this offseason.

Keep at it and keep the positive attitude.

This is definitely tough times to be in the job market. Any internships out there that can get you the experience and might turn into a paying position??

Wonderful work, Berry Jo.

And I would say that even if you didn’t mention my name or plug my book.

No, really.

I'm here to talk about the past.

See, this looks funny.

“Berry Jo”. First the new AN (what is it, 3.5?), now this? More change!

FYI

Chris Carter back playing winter ball…

3 games

4 for 11 with 4 walks and 1 K.

"Carter's 25-game hitting streak isn't any normal streak. He's 46 for 97 (.474 average) during the run, adding 16 walks and compiling 81 total bases in the process. I'm out of superlatives for what he's doing." - Kevin Goldstein

check out what A's relief pitcher Craig Breslow is doing this winter

namely, the tremendous work he is doing with his Strike Three Foundation, which “heightens awareness, mobilizes support, and raises funding for childhood cancer research.” It appears that all of his A’s teammates who live in the northeast are participating, along with several of his former Twins teammates.

Very impressive…

Post snarky remarks on AN

Literally working hard to make my new place Chez Jose worthy for next season. I would like to host the opening road game at my new digs next season. Am hoping to procure a projector for the tv by then and we can watch it on the big wall in my warehouse.

Oh, and posting snarky comments on AN.

I already said that didn’t I

If the mattresses are stored in a way

that they are readily testable, then perhaps the TV projector should be aimed at the ceiling rather than a wall.

Another Book Suggestion

Lady in the Locker Room by Susan Fornoff

I am sure some of you have read this, but in case you haven’t, it is about a female reporter working in the A’s Locker room during the 80’s. I found it so interesting that I ended up basing my thesis on it. If you have not read it, it is certainly worth the time!

I was watching the summary of NFL games today on TV (Bay Area NBC channel 11)

as the announcer discussed the Giants’ short-lived celebration upon going ahead with still quite a bit to go, he referred to it as “premature jocularity”

I was a little surprised, this being broadcast TV and all…

Surprised because of the advanced vocabulary?

or because it sounds vaguely similar to “ejaculation”?

Hmph.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the phrase “premature jocularity” and it needn’t have anything to do with ejaculation.

Yikes.

I hope it’s not too serious. One of our clients had that with serious complications — not clear on the details, but something perforated and there was major infection — and it was devastating.

Take care of you, bro.
