TODAY -- Season Ticket Holder Event
imaseasonticketholder just called and said that there's still one spot for this today. If you are going or already at the game, and you are interested in going on the field and meeting the players after the game ends, you can find her in her seat at section 128, row 9, seat 2.
Season Ticket Holder Event & My New Best Friends 10/03/09
Received the e-mail from the A's. The way this works is that the seasonticket holder & their party needs to go to section 145 before the game (preferably) to get wristbands. For those not going to the game but to the event, they can get their wristbands outside of the Arena. I'm not going into too much detail as season ticket holders have received e-mails with the inof.
When the game ends, we line up at the stairwells at either section102 or 132 and proceed to the field where the players will personally thank us. We are encouraged to bring cameras.
Afterwards, we go to the East Side Club where Buan will interview Andrew Bailey & Ray Fosse & Ken Korach will handle a raffle. Snacks & beverages will be provided.
So my guests are Englishmajor, of course and Optimist Prime, if they rsvp. If not, I'll continue down the list.
Too bad they diud not issue ticketsim

Stay in touch with me
I’ll probably be selling off some of my single seats in 117.
Losing this team would be a huge failure for this city and an affront to Oakland’s great sports legacy.

It was wonderful!!!
As would be any event where you get to talk to Patterson, Ellis, Casilla and Rodriguez in Spanish, Suzuki, Mortensen (what a sweetie!), Cust and Gallego (who both loved that I mentioned being their fan when they played for the A’s), and most of the rest of the Team…when Skaalen gives an off the cuff lesson on batting stance to a young fan, when Eveland humbly says “I’m the guy who lost the game” and Nomar tells a fan that he’s just not sure what he wants to do next year…where Gio Gonzalez gives me a big hug, and after I say to Jack Cust that no matter what happens he’ll always have fans in Oakland he gives me a big smile, says thanks, and adds "I love Oakland!!)
I forgot my camera in home, so I took photos with my iphone — of course not as good, but once I figure out how to do it I’ll share some here. The event helped soothe our feelings following another blah loss to the slegnA.

I'll have pictures to share as well.
I’ll upload tomorrow, after the tailgate and game.

If you have Facebook, you can upload them into a gallery
and set that gallery to public so people can see it even if they can’t see the rest of your profile details. At least, that’s how I think it works.
Then you’d just post the Share link to AN.

Thanks Gigglingone for the post.
I ran into a friend of mine and was aboe to get her in.
Best kept secret of the A’s.
THOSE YOUNG MEN ARE FINE!!!!!!
Those uniforms do not do them justice.
I was shocked at how nice this event was. The photo sessionon the field & the autographs I pilloried and then the free swag they were just giving away..
Giambi & Duchsherer bobbleheads, aluminum water bottles, Bailey tee shirts, pashminas (SIC) and probably other stuff I missed. The raffles had some legitimate items. And that fed and liquified us,but slochol you had to pay for.
This is how we are used to being treated.
All in all, a great day. If my pix came out I willpost them in a week as I used a disposal camera.

Wow! How much fun was that?!?
Today’s season ticket holder event almost makes up for the A’s dropping the party at spring training.
Almost.
But, dam.n if it wasn’t pretty cool to chat, take pictures with and get smiles & hugs from our boys in green & gold.

Bob Geren is taller than he looks on TV. Landon Powell is smaller than he looks on TV. Daric Barton very obligingly signed a ball for me, after looking both ways & behind him — twice — to make sure one of the handlers wasn’t about to run up and go “No autographs!” Gio Gonzalez is a total sweetheart; he looked like he would have been happy to spend an entire day making his way through the stadium and personally greeting every single fan in attendance. Matt Carson is adorable. Mike Gallego has a strangely mushy handshake. I almost called Trevor Cahill “Dug” (after the dog in the movie “Up”) because that’s who he reminds me of.
And Mark Ellis avoided me, so I’d like to know who warned him…

Aha!
Dug? I have to know why he reminded you of him. It wasn’t his speech patterns, was it?
You my friend, I will defend.
And if we change, well, I love you anyway.

It's an endearment...
Something about the sort of vacant look he has a lot of the time made me think of Dug, so I started referring to him that way. This was reinforced by a dugout shot that was captured by TV (and is used in one of the stadium highlight montages on DiamondVision), where Trevor was standing up and cheering/clapping for someone’s great baserunning… during a game that he hadn’t been pitching. The look on his face while he’s cheering his teammate is very Dug-y.
While he was approaching us at the fan appreciation thing yesterday, I was actually thinking “Trevor Trevor Trevor Trevor Trevor…” to remind myself to not call him Dug.

many of the players look shorter close up than their advertised heights
one that particularly surprised me was Breslow. He is as short as Ellis, maybe even a little shorter, and also thinner than Ellis.
On the other hand, Patterson looks taller than is advertised. Henry Rodriguez is built like a tank. Wuertz is very tall and big.

I told Travis that we were all very concerned about his hair
He laughed and said “Half of you guys like it this way and the other half want it long! But don’t worry, it grows back real fast!”

Wait, are you the blond woman who appeared at the CF warning track at roughly the same time as LongTimeFan?
If that was you and I’d known that was you, I’d have introduced myself! (I’m the one who was right next to Englishmajor and not taking pictures.)
