Another update on ex-A's in the playoffs
Some are still playing, some aren't. The way the World Series schedule breaks down there won't be a game on a Tuesday so I'll drop some stats on you like I did two weeks ago. I'll do the same once we have a winner and give the full totals for everyone at that point as well.
Rumor has it Matt Holliday, Carlos Gonzalez and Huston Street were about to turn to O.J. Simpson to be their fourth golfing buddy but the Juice is busy looking for the killers from a prison cell in Nevada right now instead of on the links. They were able to find Orlando Cabrera after all with Jason Giambi playing the role of caddy.
First, the NLCS:
Los Angeles Dodgers
Andre Ethier: 5-for-19 (.263), .474 SLG, .333 OBP, .807 OPS, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 4 SO
Philadelphia Phillies
Matt Stairs: 0-for-1 (.000), .000 SLG, .500 OBP, .500 OPS, 1 BB
Joe Blanton: 0-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO, 1 HR
Now, the ALCS:
New York Yankees
Johnny Damon: 9-for-30 (.300), .533 SLG, .323 OBP, .856 OPS, 4 R, 1 2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 1 BB, 2 SO
Nick Swisher: 3-for-20 (.150), .150 SLG, .292 OBP, .442 OPS, 2 R, 3 BB, 7 SO
Chad Gaudin: 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.00 WHIP, 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 SO, 0 HR

Looking at the lines, I thought Blanton hit another HR again o_O

He also walked twice, had six hits and scored 6 runs
I say forget Cust, sign Blanton to hit second!

Gotta love the effect Stairs had on Broxton, though
The guy didn’t have an official AB in the NLCS and his only appearance was limited to one minute of “just take the bat, stand there and look mean”.
Yet, as one after the other Broxton’s Déjà vu fastballs dreaded their way-away-way to Martin’s mitt, you could have just felt that that series was being forfeited right there and right then.

This is honestly one of my favorite parts of being a modern day A's fan
I have a rooting interest in almost every game I ever watch.
I don’t particularly think of Andre Ethier as a former A. But all these other guys, I root for them big time when they are playing.
Although, I sometimes root against former A’s (Milton Bradley, Mark Redmond and Carlos Gonzalez come to mind), I generally root for ex A’s to do well.

Speaking of Milton Bradley,
perhaps it is his musical tickle toes that are responsible for his charming personality.

That's....scary.

I love the product rating on that site, too
… I bought it for my father after he broke both his arms and was told to work his arms and hands in different ways. so, we also use it as therapy …
Larry Davis, is that you?!

Of the guys left Damon is doing the best it seems
but sometimes I have to think real hard (makes my head hurt) to remember he even played for the A’s.
I know Nick Swisher has a lot of fans but I don’t know he’s a guy who I don’t think as lived up to his potential.
With the way he’s played in these playoffs I think there’s a good chance he’ll be playing for his fourth team in four years next season.

I don't know....
A good series in NY and else will be forgotten. We’ll see. I hope he steps it up. He’s one of the few ex-A’s that I would really like to see have success.

Phillies took the train to NYC, quite sensibly
NYTImes has the story and a nice picture of Blanton getting off the train.

now we just need that pic of Swish as the plug.
If Swish and Blanton face each other in one of these games, Fox should really show their rookie hazing pics. That would be hilarious. And very unlikely, considering those people at Fox probably have no idea they were even teammates… on that team somewhere out west….

Speaking of Rookie Hazing Pics
Where are the ones of the A’s guys this year?? Anybody ever see them??

I think the consensus is that no pictures of this year's hazing exist. :(
Which is sad news. I haven’t looked for them since the season ended, but I doubt they’ve appeared since then.

I think this is a consequence of the crisis in the newspaper business
Beat reporters not going on road trips at the end of the year to save money = no one to take embarrassing photos or make sure that they are being leaked.
