OK, Ratto is *definitely* trawling AN for column filler
There's hardly anything in here that wasn't posted on AN the last 2 days.

"This signing doesn't put Beane even with Brian Sabean for the off-season.."
I’m trying to figure out how someone can value signing Affeldt, Howry, and Johnson over gaining Holliday and Giambi. I suspect Ratto overvalues bullpen help over offensive firepower.
I am Ray Fosse's infatuations with Clay Wood and high-definition television.

Randy Johnson is stil really, really, really, really good.

+/- is an absolutely terrible stat, so don't use it, and don't give up on young players before they turn 24.

the Giants needs are different from ours
and they adressed them pretty well… they still need a real 3b and 1b. their bullpen will still be average, but average is better than god-awful (which it was last season). we needed bats, so we added 2 legit ones… and the offseason is far from done. the argument of 4 vs 2 as an indicator of better GMing doesn’t hold much water for me… it’s all relative to a team’s specific needs.
ratto has always been pro-giants. he is whatever.
