OT: Best online baseball subscription
Hey everybody and Happy New Year!! One of my Christmas presents that I have yet to cash in on was an online subscription to any baseball (yes baseball) site I want, given by my family. I wanted to get some input on what are the cream of the crop sites for myself as a recently transplanted out of market A's fan. I do like stats and things like that, but I am much more interested in reading articles and insight from great baseball minds even though I am not that well versed on who those people even are (oops). I love my A's but would enjoy reading about all teams and learning more about the minor leagues and up and coming stars in what little spare time I have.
Could anyone suggest some sites that have good content that wont just be the same recycled east coast love that is ESPN, FOX, and other major sports outlets. I suppose they wouldn't have to be subscription sites as really I am just trying to broaden my horizons on baseball literature. Nothing against the lovely and free AN, but you know.
I need help to make it that month until pitchers and catchers report, and would love a good site to read all season long. All suggestions welcome and thanks for the help AN!

I subscribe to Baseball Prospectus, Baseball America and Scout.com
I’m very happy with all of them. I’m also considering a premium subscription for Baseball Reference.com, although I’m not much of a number cruncher.

Okay, there is no such thing, but there is money to be made if someone set up such a site.
I third the BP rec.

Aw, shit, I think I just violated Blez’ embargo.

If you'll allow me to be selfish...
The Hardball Times is completely free, but we rely on sales of our books and donations from our readers to cover our costs. BPro and BA are both great sites, but I happen to think that THT, an organization I’m associated with, is pretty darn good, too.
You might want to consider our recent books (here and here) or our website. If you like what you see, leave us a tip via paypal – the link is toward the bottom of our homepage on the right-hand sidebar.
Children, until we have taught them better, will be perfectly happy with a seasonal round of games in which conkers succeeds hopscotch.
Absolutely, THT is a good read
They got a guy on there short on stature but long on quality words.

Sal, I'm not much of a book person -- I travel too much -- but I'd be interested in a THT premium
subscription if one ever came to pass if it had the content now found in the books. Any such plans?

Nothing imminent.
But, as I said, if you would pay for a THT premium, please consider leaving some money in our tip jar.

From what you said you want to read...
I would have to throw another vote in for Baseball Prospectus
Bring back Hammer.
Baseball Prospectus is probably your best bet ...
So is buying one of the books Sal contributed to.

Thanks everyone!
I am leaving to go on vacation tomorrow and taking my laptop with me. I will look into all those sites and appreciate the rec’s!

"My group runs some frogloks down the hall to finish them off and POP! RASTER! If there was a way to scream louder than caps in EQ I was doing it. Man I am straight panicking because I know I have NO CHANCE soloing and the party has run off. I'm in my hotel room; it's like 5am, and I am straight hollering, in EQ and in real life. Bottom line is the group comes back, heals me, and kills Raster! WOOT!" -Curt Schilling on his favorite memories in the video game "EverQuest"
I have been a subscriber to baseball prospectus for a few seasons now.
I noticed that it seemed liked it was less quality last season than it had the year before. However this year it’s looking up a little. I like that they added member comments.
Yes it was getting somewhat insular....still is, but the member comments help.
I think their player evaluation stats are falling behind fangraphs though.

I like the stats feature ...
but I don’t visit fangraphs and I have trouble understanding some of the graphs I see posted so I can’t really judge that but your opinion about that is interesting and respected by me.
