But the median was 88?

It appears so.

So, I guess having Davis at 87 would put him smack dab in the middle of center fielders, offensively.

by mikev on Sep 8, 2008 6:46 PM PDT up reply actions

That just sounds wrong. All CF are either Grady Sizemore or Rajai Davis?

[Crosby] "Guy that has driven in some big runs for the A's over the years" - Vince Cotroneo

by WaddellCanseco on Sep 8, 2008 6:50 PM PDT up reply actions

Erm... Unless I'm confusing median and mean (again)

At 87, Rajai’s OPS+ is worse than the theoretical “average CF” 97 OPS+

However, at 87, there are an equal number of CFs with a better OPS+ and a worse OPS+ than him.

A lot of CF AB in the 81-90 OPS+ range and a lot in the 121-130 range.

Not much in between.

250,000 MLB home runs

Didn’t see when I skimmed the other thread, but the second HR Gio gave up to Sheffield was the 250,000th in MLB history. I was really hoping an A would hit that, but it’s neat to be involved in history regardless.

This is probably already on here somewhere, but Billy Wagner is likely going to be out for a solid year, and the Mets will be looking into Street as well as others.

by WaddellCanseco on Sep 8, 2008 7:19 PM PDT up reply actions

I dunno.

I don’t know very much about Shawn Bowman currently, but he was the kid who was supposed to be such a huge 3b prospect that the Mets were going to have to move Wright to 1st to accommodate him. He was out all last year with an injury but looks to be doing well this year. He’ll be playing Arizona fall ball.

Also, he’s the guy that adjusts himself more than Hannahan.

2002 12th round pick. In his 4th year in A+ at 23 years old. Is that him?

What’s good about him?

[Crosby] "Guy that has driven in some big runs for the A's over the years" - Vince Cotroneo

by WaddellCanseco on Sep 8, 2008 7:24 PM PDT up reply actions

I just saw him at AA a few weeks ago.

He did have those injury setbacks which is why he didn’t move up as fast as they’d. like. I mean, I’d assume he’s on the block since the Mets are committed to Wright from here to eternity. They’ve already had another 3b prospect (Daniel Murphy) switch positions just so he could stay in the org. So I don’t think Bowman could do it too.

I don’t know a whole lot about him… I know that he’s hyped and that I like his face.

Mostly he was known for his defense, I’ll assume he can hit too. Rather on the thin side, doesn’t look like any kind of power hitter.

by schmifty on Sep 8, 2008 7:27 PM PDT up reply actions

At least he'd have one fan.

Yeah, they have a bunch of removable seats.

not only do they let a whole bunch of extra drunken fans onto the outfield, but they also absolutely tear up the field for the baseball team.

Yay.

My secret:

Slip a little of grandpa’s cough syrup in the tea with some honey, take a bunch of medication and sleep it off. Stick some Mentholatum up my nose, take a hot shower.

I sat out in the rain watching the A’s last week… I have a sore throat now.
