Around SBN: 7 Important Questions About The Heat Vs. Celtics Series

Open Thread: Last Game of the Season (cont.)

A's will be looking to extend a slim lead going into the 4th inning. The guys jumped all over Dickey in the 1st inning by putting up a 3-spot. But since that time, the offense has quieted down. Outman, looking as hittable as he did in Texas, has given 2 runs back to the Mariners. A's still up 3-2.

Ozzie actually said that he thinks Garcia can make it back to the bigs, but they needed a guy who would be ready and 100% this season and he didn’t think Garcia would be at that point until next season. He might be right. Detroit just has nothing to lose by having him get some work now.

I really like Outman's stuff

His issue doesn’t seem to me to be so much control as it is pitch selection. The 0-2 “backfoot slider” he threw Lopez this inning is precisely the pitch he needed to throw Balentien (when he doubled). He needs to learn when and how to go “up the ladder” with his fastball, how to bury his slider, etc. He has a chance to be good.

He's going to have to work on his curve.

Or throw it very rarely. He’s got a plus fast ball and the slider is very good.

The curve should be more of a "get me over" pitch to steal a strike

I’m going to Las Vegas for the WCC basketball tournament, March 6-9. Will go to spring training games either the week before that or the week after. Stay safe, and have a good offseason!

Someone better make a game thread for this

and pretend that instead of posting the line-ups for the White sox, post it as if they are the A’s, and then we’ll have a game thread.

That is SO living in the past. The 2009 A’s, however, are an RISP-hitting, productive out executing, collective RBI masheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen.
