Open Thread: Game 161 - A's @ Mariners
This is it ladies and gentleman! It's been real, it's been fun, but I can't say it's been real fun. The A's 2008 season ends today and we are all wishing it ends on an upnote as the A's attempt to salvage one game of a series against one of the worst teams in major league baseball. Fireballing lefty Josh Outman takes the hill for the A's, opposed by Seattle's knuckle-ball extraordinaire R.A. Dickey. Hopefully, Dickey's control problems persist today and give the A's plenty of baserunners to work with both early and often in the ballgame.
With the .500 mark and 2nd place in the division both statistically out of reach on the final day of the season, Bob Geren and the A's will attempt to improve on or at least tie last season's total of 76 wins on the year today. Since the A's will only play 161 games this season (due to the cancelled game in Baltimore last month) they can actually tie last year's win and still incrementally improve their win percentage with a win today. Hip-hip hooray for baby steps with this young team!

I hope the Rangers beat the Angels. Then they won't win 100 games.
Brewers just tied the Cubs, 1-1 in the 7th. Kendall’s up with the bases loaded and 2 outs. Grand slam time!

8 K's in 2.2
No other outs other than strikeouts still.. and they’re losing.. Is Lincecum on the field by himself?

A date and I were driving home from dinner, and the game was on the radio. I aww’ed when Ryan hit the HR. The guy was jealous that I showed more interest in Ryan than him that night.
