Seattle
Seattle or Bust! Then on to Spring Training...
Good Evening Fellow Aner's,
So who will be going to Seattle.?I am going to be heading up there early on Friday AM. Any suggestions of must sees while we are there, places to eat, any places we may find players after the game? Anything we should not do? This will be my first time to Seattle
Thanks!
Maybe we could all meet up...
Let's go A's!

Seattle
Visit the Pike Place Market, and the Ballard Locks (both free) and the Museum of Flight which is worth the money. If you like the Blues…..Club 99.
Is it just me or is Pike's Market the MOST OVERRATED tourist "attraction" of all time?
I could go down to my local grocery store and see the same something just as “cool.”

it is overrated, except for that coin operated Giant Shoe Museum

It just seems to me that a major city like Seattle should have more to hang its hat on then
some lame Fish Market. I was extremely disappointed when I made it to Pikes.

it's rather tiny, considering
what I find most interesting about Seattle is that its downtown is on the side of a hill
Seattle!
I wish i could go up! I was there last month for the series though. The two games i went to, the A’s lost. Bummer.
Anyways, there are some places that you could check out while you’re up there. Pike Place. Ummm, I dont really remember whats up there. They have this fast food place, called Dick’s, which people have said is like In-n-out. I think In-n-out is better. If you’re into bars and such, go to Belltown. I’ve heard that Fremont is kind of a nice place to check out; I havent been there myself though. First Starbucks is someone around Pike Place if youre interested as well.
At the stadium, they have these chocolate covered strawberries on a stick, and theyre called dingleberries! so you could um…get yourself a dingleberry!

I just had Dicks tonight.
It was tasty. I have to say I love Dicks. Had a cheeseburger and chocolate shake, def try to visit there if you can. Everything is reasonably priced there too. Pike place is another good place to visit. How long are you staying? There’s so many awesome places to go and see.
Always makes me laugh
I have 3-4 former coworkers who live up in the Seattle area and they always tell me about said fast food restaurant.
In particular, they always tell me how they will go and spend the rest of the day running around telling everyone how much they love Dicks! Going at 2am and screaming it out the car window, etc…

Fremont
The neighborhood in Seattle, that is.
Fremont reminds me a bit of Berkeley, like around Telegraph Ave. Not exactly, but that’s the general mood. I wouldn’t call it a local attraction or anything — if that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll do better to save the airfare and just go to Berkeley — but if you’re in Seattle anyway and looking for somewhere to hang out, that’s the kind of place it is.
If you’re staying downtown or near the stadium, Fremont is a bit out of the way. Closer to downtown is Capitol Hill, which reminds me of San Francisco, like maybe somewhere around inner Richmond just south of GG Park. I rarely visit any of them, now that I’m an old fogey, but if I were young and looking to party, I think I’d like Capitol Hill better than Belltown. (Belltown, however, has the significant advantage that one bar there (I forget the name) has a large and well-maintained collection of pinball machines, something I haven’t found anywhere else in the entire metropolitan area.)
I agree that Pike Place Market is overrated. I never understood the attraction.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Needle, or maybe that’s too obvious. Unlike everything else mentioned in this thread, it’s a real tourist attraction.

Well, Howard Lincoln and Chuck Armstrong are still in power
And they’re almost as moronic as Bavasi was. Talk to one of them.

If A's-Mariners isn't enough sports to fill your weekend
you can see a couple of lousy Pac-10 teams slug it out, when the Huskies take on the Furdies on Saturday night at 7 p.m. out at Husky Stadium.
The Pac-10 is, as the Brits would say, pants this year
Even the “good” teams (Cal, Oregon) aren’t that good. Half the conference is just frigging terrible. I’d be somewhat surprised if USC even has a close game, much less loses one.

That my friend is why they play the games. Must I remind you of a 41 point underdog taking
out $C last year. Never did I think I would see the day where PT sounded like some ESPN hack. Of course $C should win the Pac-10, but there will be at least one time this year in conference play where they will be faced with a close game.

I was hoping that the fact that I don't usually say things like that,
especially about the Pac-10, would give it some added credibility…
But as we learned from “House” today, the Boy Who Cried Wolf story is inaccurate… although this is kind of the inverse situation.

Dinner @ the
Metropolitan Grill – Best Steaks in the West Coast!!! If your luck, a ball player may be there for dinner. I also like Ivar’s clam chowder.
About six of the AN girls are flying up on Friday...
…was I not supposed to say that? ;-)
So, bring on Bonds! Or, not... then, bring back Langerhans!! -One won lost one
ahh the pick six if you will....
i’m gonna try to make it to the sunday game. cuz i have to work all weekend. but i have to say that el gaucho is the best steak joint in town. there are a few good tours that you can take also, but avoid the “ride the duck” one the locals for the most part hate that tour. hopefully we will all run into each other.
beer at pyramind alehouse across from stadium = tickets from scalper
I forgot to add that a pre or post game beer goes down very well at the pyramid alehouse across from the stadium. An article in the local paper said how the scalpers who hang out in front of the stadium are having a hard time giving away tickets…..so if you have the kohanes wait until game time and buy a ticket from a scalper….get the lowest price ticket and move up during the game….plenty of empty seats.
