Open Thread: Game 151 - A's vs. Angels (Cont.)
After five innings, we have a real game on our hands. The A's are up 1-0 on the back of strong pitching by Greg Smith (only 1 walk, BTW) and an opportunistic double by Aaron Cunningham that plated Bobby Crosby in the fifth. The A's opted not to add on with the bases loaded and one out, so we're keeping this thing close. On to the sixth inning, A's!

Hawk is like listening to Beethoven compared to Hudler
Hudler has all of Hawk’s homerism, but he adds a complete inability to ever say anything entertaining or insightful. I love listening to Hawk talk about baseball, just not about the current White Sox. Plus, I love Hawk’s catchphrases. He makes the game fun as long you don’t care that he’s rooting for the White Sox (and I don’t mind a homer home team announcer). Hawk’s worst quality is actually bitching about the umpires.

F-Rod waited for the ball to come down, airmailed into a folding chair by the Angels’ bullpen.
Words can do no justice.
Faked bunt. Awkward swing, chopper to the mound. K-Rod throws it away. Two runs score. Ballgame!

Faked bunt swung away.
Baltimore chop high off plate.
Frankie caught it and threw wildly to 1B down the line. Everybody scored.

And we know how bad 880 can be at the end of a home game
That ball might make it home by 11:30
When was the last time
the A’s swept a series this year?
Look at that, he hit the f*cking bull! Guy gets a free steak!
Vs Baltimore
but that was a reduced 2 game series
Why didnt the 2B even try and knock down the ball by Barton?
What a lazy fucking play that was.
Bring back Hammer.
F-Rod is my favorite player for the A's to beat!
HAHAHHAHA!

Halo Heaven thought we were on suicide watch
for awhile.
I hate unproductive outs and the A's are producing them at record production
Now THAT was fun!
And against KFraud and the Angels, no less! I love it! Let’s go for the sweep tomorrow! I know it doesn’t matter, but it’s really fun to see Pennington, Buck, Sweeney et al win as a team and have fun doing it. And The Nibbler didn’t nibble tonight, either. Sweet! Go A’s!

Fun Fun Fun!!
Always better when the other team cannot just “tip their cap”.
Better when they simply throw it away, when they still had a chance with “no throw”.
Loved the appearance of FRod, when he looked down the RF line, saw the ball getting fumbled, got that “Damn!!!! Ball game…” and trudged to the dugout!
Runs Please. A lot of them. The rest of the season. Thank you.

Wow, this is great
Pathetic fielding at the end there. Manger Mike went storming back to the clubhouse. What was that box thing near the chair where the ball got all tangled up? or rather the Angel got all tangled up.
its a heater
Hudler talked about it for about three innings last night.
I was about to say
I’m an angel, but that probably would be worse than anything else I’ve posted in the last 24 hours.
I'm here to talk about the past.

Great smart play by Pennington/Geren
Saw the wheel play was on (first and second nobody out) and had Pennington show bunt and then swing – chopped back to the mound, K-Rod played pepper with the right field line. I love unpredictable, adjust-to-the-moment baseball. Angels beaten at their own game, buaaaahahaha.

Geren's a smarter manager than many give credit for
He just hasn’t had much talent to work with so most of his decisions wind up looking bad.
