Where in the World are the A's fans?
Summer is over and so is baseball season. And unfortunately for those of us who make a living in the teaching profession, so is our vacation. Back to work and back to school. And in my case it's the Ho Chi Minh University of Industry in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
I guess I'm just curious as to where the farthest reaches of the earth you can go and still find an A's fan. I like to think I get the title of A's fan in the most obscure place. But I'd love to hear where else some A's fans might be. And who knows? The next time the A's get Boston in Tokyo maybe we can represent AN.

In Chicago
Whats a Sherman tank doing in Vietnam? And it looks really well preserved for being 65 years old…

My guess is, it was sold to the South Vietnamese government
before the US got involved on the ground.

It looks like it's pretty rusty to me, plus I don't see any treads.

New Zealand
I used to live in New Zealand and listen to the games over the internet while at work. It was perfect, most of the games started about 3pm their time. Would send Robert Baun emails about the A’s.
Lucky you
In Vietnam games start at 9 am and I hardly get to watch
Yeah the only games I ever could watch were Yankees and BoSox. Got so bad I started following cricket.
Actually learned a lot of respect for cricket after NZ. But it’s still not baseball. Plus the blackcaps were kinda a let down in the world cup in07
Thank god cricket is not baseball, and vice versa...
but they both are great…

What part of NZ are ya from?
I am originally from Ashburton
I hate unproductive outs and the A's are producing them at record production
That's more obscure than Saigon.

Looks photoshopped to me.
Plus you can totally see the reflection of stage lamps off the astronaut’s helmet.

Chao thay!
What are you teaching in Vietnam? I worked there for a year in 1995. It must have changed a lot since then.

My grandparents just flew over to Vietnam yesterday to visit.
I hope I get the chance to do so again sometime soon.
uh oh
I’m currently living in Ashland Oregon. I’m still in a place where there’s a lot of A’s fans. Need more though.

Norcal to Socal, so I would say I am stuck on an alien planet
Save the thesaurus for when you are in front of the judge. When speaking of the A's, speak with your heart on...................your sleeve!
Clemson, SC
not nearly as far away as Vietnam.
On a related note, there was a survey a few years ago (here and here) where FormerHuntsvilleStar made some nifty maps showing the locations of AN members world wide. I don’t think the maps survived the transition to New AN, but maybe he still has them somewhere. I expect they’re a bit out of date, but still pretty cool.

By the way, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought this was...
…going to be another rant about low attendance at the Coliseum. ;-)

Nashville, Tennessee- Teaching school
I haven’t posted as much since August as schools starts then, much earlier than other states.
Still following each game.
I made all the kids vote for King on the Ford Frick award today when they went online for a lesson.

Looking back, I realize that my life has been a series of incidents where one person has said to another, "Get this asshole outta here!"
But clearly I did not
Or I stutter.

for the past year
i was studying abroad at The American University in Cairo, Egypt which was the most awesome experience ever. I’ve been M.I.A. on this site because of it. Just got back a little while ago. Ive met some fellow A’s tourist and a couple of Rangers fans who shared a huge dislike for the Angels. I really need to go back to Vietnam to visit my grandparents and family sometime soon though. Sounds like an awesome teaching opportunity!
When Crosby was asked after the game if the collision was fun, the 26-year-old responded with a wide-eyed "Yeah!"
