AN Trading Post - 9/16/08 - A'S SWAG FOR TRADE!

Hey Party People,

We're nearing the end of a fruitless season, as far as Division or Wild Card crowns are concerned, but I'm sure many of you found it fruitful in terms of collecting A's merchandise. Well, as usual, some of us have an over-abundance of one thing or another and are in search of a trading partner (or partners) to make the ideal for the one (or six) items we just can't feel complete without. The same guidlines as previously apply: Post what you want and what you have for trade. I'll got first:

Wanted: A Dick Williams bobbblehead

               A Vida Blue jersey(XL)

               A Dave Stewart jersey(XL)

               An A's backpack(any)

               An A's blanket

                A Barry Zito Bobblehead

If anyone has a 4th of July Red, White and Blue Athletics jersey I will trade everything I have listed plus cash for it!

                A Nick Swisher RH Bobblehead.

To Trade: A Huston Street Jersey(XL)

                  A Frank Thomas jersey(L)

I have these bobbleheads to trade: Dan Haren, Milton Bradley, Frank Thomas, Reggie Jackson, Dennis Eckersley, Jason Kendall(no mask), Tim Hudson, Mike Piazza, Jermaine Dye and the first gold glove Chavy.

Let's make a deal!

Hey McFood....

I have the Dave Stewart jersey, still in the bag. I would be willing to deal it for the Ellis bobblehead…..and Giambi if you want to toss in a second :). The jersey is XL. Lemme know.

Bring back Hammer.

by OaktownPower on Sep 16, 2008 9:32 AM PDT reply actions

If McFood doesn't want the Stew jersey, I do. I have Ellis in the box (as well as Cust, Buck and 'Zooks).

Shall I bring Ellis to a game (like tonight) and meet you at an appointed time/place?

They are still selling them at the Coliseum this week.

Would you like me to pick one up for you? They are$10, but I don’t think they ordered any smalls.

Hey justarebel heart

the day is coming to an end . Unless I hear from you, I’ll assume you do NOT want me to pick up a jersey for you. Again, no guarantees they will still be there this weekend.

I have a Dick Williams bobblehead to trade

I wouldn’t mind trading it for another bobblehead that I don’t have. Its still in the box, unopened. I’d like to take that Tejada one of your hands. Let me know. ricardo.pineres@gmail.com

I also have an extra Swisher bobblehead

I don’t remember if its RH or LH, but I can check later when I get home. I would be willing to trade bobblehead for bobblehead.

by green_and_gold on Sep 16, 2008 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions

I'll take it, either way. I can always trade it for RH later if it's LH. Oh, btw, I don't have Tejada. Here's my complete list:

Dan Haren, Milton Bradley, Frank Thomas, Reggie Jackson, Dennis Eckersley, Jason Kendall(no mask), Tim Hudson, Mike Piazza, Jermaine Dye and the first gold glove Chavy.

Pick two from that list if you’re interested.

As authentic home jersey and green majestic gameday jacket

I bought both inthe stadium store for about $140 each. Jersey is size 44, jacket is medium. I have lost a lot of weight so neither one fits anymore. Only worn each a few times. Willtrade for smaller sizes or sell for cash.

I want the 2008 A's Team Baseball Card Set

It’s a giveaway at this Saturday’s game that I won’t be able to attend. Here’s what I have to trade:

- Nick Swisher BH (bats rights)
- A’s Alarm Clock (still in the box)
- I also have other bobbleheads from 2000 to present that I may be willing to part with depending on the request.

I can meet at Sunday’s game or anywhere in San Francisco.

Did not get the Dick Green or Travis Buck one’s this year…..anyone interested.

Me again…

I have a Dick Williams (did you mean him instead of Green?) b-head in its box and would love to trade for a Cust one, as I was down in SoCal when those were being given away. (I DID get to see the A’s beat the Halos in Anaheim, so that made up for not being local.)

I also have

an Oakland A’s license plate frame, and a Mark Ellis and Bobby Crosby bobblehead I’m willing to part with for the `08 A’s team baseball card set.

This is SLIGHTLY off topic but has anyone been to the team shop this last home stand?

If so, are they holding the half off sale? If they are is the merchandise already picked over? Didn’t know where else to post this without starting a thread that everyone would complain about.

Sorry -- should have said "booth at the stadium end of Gate A tunnel."

Not sure about the shop. It was last night’s game — Sunday they were saying 35% at the same booth, so maybe they’re not done?

by The Dogfather on Sep 17, 2008 10:34 AM PDT up reply actions

I checked out a booth and the store on the 3B side last night

Everything is 50%, though it should be noted that blank authentic jerseys were pulled from the store. The very friendly working in the store said that jerseys were $10 more wholesale this season than last, so that powers-that-be weren’t going to discount those and would just hold ’em over until next season.

PPP...thank you very much. I was going to stop by on my way home from work

last night, but hadn’t heard back from AN re: the sale. I’ve been eyeing that jacket all year but wont pay retail. I’m gonna kick myself if I missed it by one day. Am I correct in assuming the sale was underway this weekend as well?

Thank you so much for your responses to my questions. Truly appreciated.

by 33SwisherSweet on Sep 17, 2008 1:29 PM PDT up reply actions

(Most) everything must go!

The sale was originally for 35% from September 11-21, I believe. But when everybody got there last night, there were 50% off signs at the various booths and stores.

I was looking for the pullover trainer on Sunday and noticed that those jackets were on the same circular rack. (Can it be called a rack if it’s circular?) I went back last night to check that same rack to see if I had bought the last XL trainer at least at that store. (I had, so I didn’t feel quite as bad.) But I didn’t notice/look for the jackets last night.

a question for owners of official "name" jerseys

What size (height in inches of the green and the gold edging) are the letters and numbers on the back, and the smaller numbers on the front?

The only Cust jerseys they had last night were (shudder) black, so I had to settle for a blank home jersey. I need approximate typeface sizing so’s I can buy/make some letters/numbers and custom-kludge it myself.

And a vote: should I customize it with “MONKEYBALL,” or with “SPARTACUST” (and if the latter, hyphen or no hyphen)?

by monkeyball on Sep 18, 2008 9:33 AM PDT reply actions

I vote Spartacust, no hyphen

you’re going to have enough trouble with the letters, I’d think, without throwing a hyphen into the project.

Up for a referall?

I’ve gone to a woman in Castro Valley who has done the team’s jerseys in the past when the in-house person had overflow work. She’s done three different customizations for me and does the home and away jerseys for a very reasonable price, as I recall.

The shop is Linda’s Lettering, and the number is (510) 881-4730. My one caveat is that the business is totally independently run by Linda herself, and I believe her hours are 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. So be sure to coordinate times with her by phone, and you can also send the jersey back and forth if you don’t have flexibility to go see her in Castro Valley during the week.

(Did you really find a jersey at half price? I was told that they were all pulled for the sale. Hmm…)

P.S. I’d go with Spartacust, too.

by PositionPlayerProd on Sep 18, 2008 12:00 PM PDT up reply actions

thanks!

Mrs Monkeyball is actually professionally trained herself, and has a full industrial sewing setup at Monkeyball World Headquarters. I very much appreciate the referral, though!

The blank home jersey I got wasn’t the all-bells-and-whistles-every-single-patch-on-the-sleeves game jersey — those, yes, I think they pulled. So if anyone has any spare official-game-jersey patches to spare (the elephant balancing on the ball, a Bill King patch, etc) …

I’m leaning toward SPARTACUST myself as well.

It's just something we do. It's not something we like. @('.')@

by monkeyball on Sep 19, 2008 9:16 AM PDT up reply actions

Awesome!

Mrs. Monkeyball sounds like a keeper, for sure! ;) And perhaps you can refer me and other AN members to her some day…

I’ve had good luck buying various patches on eBay, if you want to go that route. As you may already know, you just have to be sure to get the “sew on” and not the “collectible” ones. The latter have hard plastic backings.

I have a Suzuki jersey and will measure the letters when I have a chance. (I realize it’s six versus nine letters, but perhaps it can give you a point of reference.)

by PositionPlayerProd on Sep 19, 2008 10:48 AM PDT up reply actions

excellent ideas all around

I will put a figurative bug in Mrs Monkeyball’s ear about the Cust-omization suggestion. She just might be interested in such a venture …
