Open Game Thread: Game 114 - A's at Toronto
Oakland Athletics at Toronto Blue Jays, Aug 7, 2008 4:07 PM PDT
The A's and Justin Duchscherer look to end a slide against the Toronto Blue Jays and A.J. Burnett.
Duke's stats look like this:
If there was a guy to end the slide, this is the one. Course it won't be an easy task as he faces AJ Burnett.
The lineups are as follows:
Sweeney
Ellis
Thomas
Gonzalez
Brown
Crosby
Hannahan
Barton
Bowen
The Jays go with this group:
Inglett
Wilkerson
Rios
Overbay
Barajas
Lind
Stairs
Rolen
McDonald

These guys seem to be a little confused/shocked by him as a starter though
Do they get, like, news in Canada? They do know he was an All Star, right?

Halladay isn't a great strikeout guy either. Not sure why they're surprised by Duke.

Sandy Koufax didn't blow anyone away either.

only when he didn't throw his curveball
ken korach's voice is like peanut butter on velvet, not joe buck's.
Serious question - given how well he has hit the Blue Jays,
and in this ballpark, and given that the Jays are running McDonald and Eckstein out there, would the Jays be interested in Crosby? Seems like a good fit – I still think there’s a chance he’d do better with a fresh start than he’ll ever do with Oakland.

Trade him for Scutaro straight up.

I think he would do great there
or on any other team.
I hate unproductive outs and the A's are producing them at record production

Now if he could just remember to let the line drive go through ...

WTH
I’m starting to think I shouldn’t watch the team anymore. I miss 3 innings and we are winning?!?
If we get through five, we need to pay off the Canadian mafia to cut the power cords at the stadium.

These Toronto guys are praising Crosby to the skies.
JP must want him really bad.

How cool is it that they keep the banners up
from hosting the all start game like 17 years ago…
uh, actually I guess the answer is “not very”.

Thing I wish would stop forever:
Opposing announcers saying things about how A’s fans only wish Bobby Crosby could be healthy because he’s really good.
I don’t wish injury on the guy, but I certainly don’t get upset for the sake of the A’s when it happens.

They usually put Harden in there before
But they just realized he’s gone, so they had to scramble for another name.

All you have to do
is look at W-L record with and without him on the field. That tells you everything you need to know.

Exactly. That's where it shows up in the box score.
