Who Else You Rooting For?
Now that our beloved A's are buried and just about dead which other MLB team are you pulling for this season?
I would love to see the Minnesota Twins win the AL Central. I live in Chicago and these whiney bandwagon White Sox fans are driving me nuts. Two games ago they were all crying and now after beating the Tigers twice they are all puffy chested again.
To see the Twins shut them up (as well as that first class idiot Hawk Harrelson) would take some of the sting off the season for this A's fan.

Go Rays!!!
I would love to see both the Yankees and the Red Sox miss the playoffs, but that is a low probability scenario. In any event, I really want to see Tampa Bay in the playoffs.

Bring back the K.C. A's!
They would certainly be more compelling than this lot.

Right now, I'm rooting for myself to get a new job
It looked like the place that laid me off might’ve brought me back for a different position but after I sent in my updated resume they decided that since I was a “known entity” and everyone knew me already that it wasn’t necessary to interview me for the position or ask me anything about it, and they hired someone else.
So, it’s back to the drawing board.

...and the boss of my boss is also trying to get me reinstated full time, so we’ll see what happens from here.

The Rangers.
I’m kinda rooting for them. At the very least they have an exciting offense. They are a big long shot for the WC, but it would be cool if Washington’s team could make a run. Especially after they were calling for his head in May.
What about Barry?
"Barry who?" Forst said, and I felt like I was in the middle of a knock-knock joke.

Rich Harden, occasionally the Brewers and the Cardinals when I remember. Even though the Rockies are a lost cause – I do live in CO.

Rockies for me as well
Three reasons:
1. I loved what they did for the Coolbaugh family last year.
2. They are not the Giants.
3. For my birthday this year, they gave me a tense, fast-paced pitcher’s duel. Well actually, they gave me this game, which I re-capped here and here.

Off topic a bit - My top 10 things I am rooting for (no teams)
1.) Dan Haren to win the Cy Young
2.) Tim Hudson & Chavy to have successful surgery .
3.) Ron Washington to kick CJ Wilson’s ass for disrespecting him on the mound yesterday. (although it was sweet what Wash did)
4.) NY and Boston to suck and miss the playoffs.
5.) For the A’s to stay out of last. (finish .500)
6.) Billy and David – Bring up some more prospects!
7.) Somehow say bye bye to Embree, DFA, Foulke, Crosby,
8.) for the A’s to win on my B-Day (Tomorrow), come on Duke
9.) Make Ziggy the closer
10.) and I guess a Arizona v Tampa World Series.

I'm actually rooting for the Cubs
They seem to have a pretty classy fan base and I have a few good friends who are Cubs fans who are good people. I’d love to see the Cubs win it this year on the 100th year of futility. Plus it would take the story away from the media. No more cursed teams in baseball any more, right?

Hell yes.
Watching the Rays win it would be fun—it’d be the question of whether the media would A) blame them for taking away the Cubs’ rightful glory, B) say that it wasn’t talent, but an act of God to maintain the curse, or C) both.

I can't root for the Cubs.
Not because I dislike them especially, but because I’m afraid they will become what Red Sox fans have become. And every Tom, Dick and Harry that has stepped foot in Chicago will claim to be a life long Cubs fan. I rue the day.

The first part...
is already happening. Did you see anything from the series in Milwaukee? All this Wrigley Field North stuff is totally something our good friends in Boston and New York would do. They remind me of them now. So I would love to see the Rays break the Cubs fans hearts in the World Series.

...losing and getting Strasburg. They need him… bad.
But for someone winning it all I’d have to go with the Brewers, I hope the Sheets/Sabathia combo pays off for them.

The Rays are getting more seats filled than the Marlins, but the Marlins are doing good via TV. But with football right around the corner, that may drop off. The Marlins don’t get a lot of fans due to the heat and the daily afternoon t-storm chance here.

also rooting for any boston area teams to lose
I root for players from the Austin area, so Huston Street and Ross Ohlendorf

It's simple
1: A’s
2: Niners
Once the playoffs are set I’ll pick individual matchups. (As of now, it looks like the AL Central team and the Rays because they’d be playing the Angels and NYY/BOS)

Hmph. I reject the premise.
I’m rooting for the A’s and only the A’s.
No, I’m not delusional. I know full well we don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of making the playoffs. So what? It’s not like the playoffs is the only reason to root for the team.
Every day, the A’s winning just one more game is more important than what other teams win pennants. I care more about tomorrow’s A’s game than about the whole damn playoff race. Yankees, Red Sox, Angels … I don’t care who goes to the World Series. Just give the A’s one more win.

It’s legendary seeing them do so well, watching the media go batty if they made the postseason over the Yanks and Red Sox would be glorious. It’d be amazing to see them go to The Show. I want to drink the sweet, sweet tears of Fox and BTN. Let me drink their pain.

The corollary -
Who would you most hate seeing win?
For me? Yankee’s – Giants world series would have me purchasing a one shot hand gun. I’m sick of Boston’s shtick (who’s not?) And, well, the Cards have 10 (now… after they sold whatever might have been left of La Russa’s soul), and the A’s still have just 9. I’d prefer that the difference for second place were no more than 1.
