Open Game Thread - Game 110: A's @ Red Sox (cont.)

Braden so far: not as good as Duke, not as bad as Eveland. A's offense so far: just as bad as ever. 1-0 Red Sox going to the top of the fourth.

After innings like that, I'm never sure

if it’s appropriate to send a “thank you” card.

I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal

It could be appreciated, or it could be taken as an insult.

There seem to be an unexpectedly high number of A's fans in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa

I hate the Yankess more

anyone, but the more I think about it, the more I think I should hate the the Red Sox more than any other team. This weekend has given me pause, though. The YES guys are really good announcers, and call probably the least biased game in the league—they know their poop back to front, about their team, about the other team. Their fans, while somewhat arrogant, are gracious in defeat and are good-natured when they’re attempting to take over your ballpark. They’re actually kind when they realize your team sucks.

Conversely the Red Sox fans are obnoxious as all get-out. The announcers are painfully biased and know nothing about the other team. In fact, Remy’s accent is so thick, he sometimes is difficult to understand. The fans are completely obnoxious, completely overbearing, always in your face, and their horrible losers.

By process of elimination (the only process I endorse), I guess that makes you a piece of lamb. @('.')@

I like Remy. I don't really like Kay.

I like both the teams. I agree on the fans.

Agree about Red Sox fans...

...completely obnoxious. They’re horrible in victory, also.

You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the goddamn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all. ~Earl Weaver

Yankees are garden-variety evil

While the Red Sox are at an inner circle of hell, Kathy Lee Gifford level of evil.

They want to steal the land papers which is why they have tried to break in. But they had to give up after being bitten by Chhotu.

Good... not sure why we need him...

Our offense sucks, but why have a 40 yr old hogging a lineup spot?

Jason Bay does it again.

And the guy the Red Sox traded, Moss, just homered for the Pirates. Trade looking good so far.

So far.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the Red Sox play the Yanks and Rays.

by Coach Cleats on Aug 3, 2008 11:55 AM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

i think it was a mostly poor trade for everyone.

the Dodgers gave up too much value for a rental, the Pirates didn’t get enough for Bay (shoulda traded with Tampa Bay), and the Red Sox gave up quite a bit to get rid of the Manny headache.

The 2009 A's draft pick... getting higher every game.

by rebus on Aug 3, 2008 12:13 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

I thought the Pirates made out pretty well for Bay

Moss, LaRoche, and Hansen isn’t a bad haul.

They’ll all start for PIT and 2 if not all 3 are def. Major League – ready.

At least its a relatively much better return than that awful Marte + Nady deal netted them.

Heck, we should’ve packaged Javier Herrera + Jared Lansford + Chris Denorfia and it would’ve been better deal for the ‘Bucs.

The Stockton Ports pitching staff is better than the Orioles.

by gdub171 on Aug 3, 2008 12:23 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

yeah

the Bucs didn’t make out well in dealing with the Yanks.

I like Reid Brignac and Jeff Niemann better than Moss/LaRoche/Hansen though.

by rebus on Aug 3, 2008 12:31 PM PDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Fair Enough

Brignac should be a stud, I think Moss was someone that the prospect junkies were pretty high on the last couple of years but has seemed to fall off a bit.

Who wouldn’t want to raid that stocked T-Rays farm system, but I do think Pitt made out the best of the 3 teams, even though I really like Bay this was probably the best the mkt would allow.
