i have this kind of uneasy feeling
that maybe this time, he’s gonna stay healthy for the long-haul, what with the changes in what he pitches, and what with his distance from the oakland trainers room.
how has his pitch repertoire changed since he was traded?

never gets old. And DAMN! does he look good these days. I’m very happy for him.

It’s a huge series for the Phils (every game will be an important game for the Phils here on out, seeing as they’re .5 game out)… pressure’s on Blanton.

I hope it’s on WGN. I watched a bit of Blanton’s start on ESPN on Sunday (I don’t remember the last time the A’s were on Sunday Night Baseball, so it had been a while since I had to listen to Joe Morgan) and he struggled through the first inning, kept wiping his brow after every pitch. And those red unis? Meh. Not a fan. But anyway, I always love seeing Rich. Should be fun.

What are the buddies looking forward to the most in Friday’s game? It’s not pitching.
“I’m pretty excited to get a chance to hit against him,” said Harden, who is 1-for-15 since switching leagues. “I’m not much of a hitter right now. I hope he challenges me, comes at me with his fastball.”
Harden on Blanton: “He’s probably one of my favorite teammates, just a great guy… One of the hardest working guys that I’ve seen in baseball my whole career.”
Blanton on Harden: “He’s an unbelievable athlete and on top of that, he’s a good pitcher with a lot of talent. … He’s an unbelievably hard worker and he’s got a good work ethic, works hard to keep himself healthy.”

Today’s game is not on WGN America (the national version of WGN that is on satellite and cable systems outside the Midwest). Search for “WGN America” in Google and click on “Cubs Schedule” to find future games.
No Win For Harden
He’s been lifted for a pinch-hitter. Given the Cubs great record of comebacks from behind this season, it’s a shame he had to come out during the current rally.
Rich's line:
5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 5 K (100 pitches).
And Cupcakes: 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K — pitching in the 6th and just walked back-to-back Cubs to lead off the inning.
Hmm, are there any other ex-A’s pitchers on the Phillies that can come in to relieve Joe? It just seems necessary.
I watched part of the game...
…and it was interesting, if unspectacular. Harden didn’t seem to have his best stuff. Especially in the 2nd inning, a couple 3-2 counts, walks, etc.
The announcers did play up the A’s connection, though.
