Open Thread: Game 132 - A's at Angels (cont.)
5-0 Angels, going to the 8th. What a great story it will be when the loss is pinned on K-Rod.

He's 2 for his last 43
His last hit, IIRC, was an RBI single in Seattle.

Yay new thread
I don’t have much hope for this game, but I’d like to say at least one hard liner up the middle about four feet off the ground.

Patterson learning from the Angels

If he'd do something right
he might get a Slingbox for a post-game appearance

Not that that would help him see HBO later
I = fail

Both DFA and Rivera have assists tonight
You could have made some money betting on that combination.
I had some regrets about not going to the game
this morning… Thank God I won’t feel the same tomorrow.
I have nothing positive to say...
about this game… this team… or this rebuilding. I actually think the Giants’ rebuilding efforts might come to fruition sooner than the A’s. That would be really, really bad.

My biggest disappointment in this rebuilding compared to the one in the late 90's
is that we have no power-hitters. BB’s and the 3-run homer cliche was much more fun to watch than what we have now. I see no offensive improvement coming anytime soon.
Looking forward to Spring Training and the hope of another World Series title.

fruition = what?
.500+ record? playoffs? WS?
pick your poison...
it looks like the Giants will reach all of those milestones sooner than the A’s.

Remind me. How many WS titles do the Giants have?

they have a few...
not as many as the A’s. But, that is irrelevant to the future.

When did they win a WS?

The Giants have won 5 World Series
1905, 1921, 1922, 1933, 1954
The only franchises to win more are the Yankees, Cardinals, Athletics, Red Sox and Dodgers.
Do you mean the NY Giants?
I wasn’t aware of SF winning any.
Looking forward to Spring Training and the hope of another World Series title.

but, you asked how many the Giants had won...
not how many the SF Giants had won.

Well okay.
I normally don’t hear anyone talking about Philadelphia when mentioning the A’s titles.
Looking forward to Spring Training and the hope of another World Series title.

1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930
are all shown on the tarps in the upper deck in right field at the Coliseum.
I was pissed when a crappy St. Louis team won its 10th title
and, went ahead of the A’s. So, I do talk about it.

I doubt that many Giant fans are celebrating
the pre-1960’s as they are some great accomplishment.
Looking forward to Spring Training and the hope of another World Series title.

not many SF Giants fans...
that’s true. And, the Giants did have some very entertaining 60’s teams. My grandma would’ve been happy had they won, at least, one. Before ‘68, I was a Giants’ fan. LOL

well, it would be close if the team down 5-0 were say...
the Rays, Marlins, Cubs, Brewers or Red Sox. But, the A’s… not so close.

Let's look at the bright side
At least we (probably) won’t be seeing K-Fraud tonight.

I'm already working on my plans
The WCC basketball tournament in Las Vegas, March 6-9, and then on to Phoenix for several days starting on March 10.
given our track record of winning post-ASB series...
what do you put our odds at of winning this series?

Greg Smith may have had the lowest run support
but he is not very impressive and I think he is just filling in for the future.
Not enough velocity and they were killing his change tonight. He nibbles like Zito used to.
The pick offs are great but are a product of the many baserunners he allows. Basically a #5 starter.
Good pitching is so hard to come by but we have no problem getting rid of it for whatever reason.
I hate unproductive outs and the A's are producing them at record production
GAME RECAP IS UP
