Outman is adjusting well to AAA hitting. I believe he will turn reliable long reliever for us in the future, if not a 5th starter.

Dominican Update:
Omar Duran: Duran has been so-so in the Domincan League. This is a 18 year old who is steady around a 5 era. He was one of the higher priced signees last year amonst Robin Rosario. I guess the promising aspect is Duran is striking out over a batter an inning.
Robin Rosario: Rosario has been progressing so far this year. He has kept his average at .280 with a low amount of Ks and BB. He could do very well soon.
Arnold Leon: Leon has been pitching for a mexian team in AAA after pitching in A Stockton and not dong too bad. He will be a dominant reliever someday if not a middle of the rotation pitcher.
Questions to consider:
1. At what point is a prospect no longer considered a prospect? Is there an age limit and if so, what do you say about the Rran Howard experience?.
2. What is Donadson's role for this team? Is Suzuki not in the long term plans or is Donaldson trade bait in the next couple years?
Enjoy!

On Donaldson
There are concerns he wont stick at catcher. He has played a few games at 3rd this year. If he can hit better than Suzuki then I think hes our future catcher. Donaldson hits for more power and a higher OBP than Suzuki did so far.But he still a few years away so if I was Suzuki I wouldnt be concerned.

Why must it be one or the other?
I don’t see why two capable catchers can’t share the job. The physical demands of the position require frequent days off (don’t tell Macha or Geren, though). If Suzuki and Donaldson are both capable players, why can’t the position be shared? Is there something in the manual that says a starting catcher must be chosen and be given the lion’s share of the work?

i think
I think that if you had two hitters capable of hitting at the major league level, you’d want both of their bats in the lineup. The problem with having two good catchers, is that one will always be on the bench, unless the other can play a normal (non-catcher) position.

A good point but
Hitting enough to hold a job behind the plate isn’t necessarily enough to hold a job elsewhere on the diamond. If you have two catchers who hit about as well as Suzuki does now, there shouldn’t be any motivation to move one of them to another position. If you have two catchers who hit like Gene Tenace or Mickey Tettleton, yeah, I’m with you on that.
With the rigors of the position, long road trips to hot & humid locations, day games after night games, etc., there shouldn’t be much concern with one of them being on the bench. It’s a good way to keep them fresh for the long haul and avoiding a big drop off when one of them can’t play for a stretch.

Leon is doing more than "not too bad" in Mexico
For the Saraperos de Saltillo:

True
Leon has been solid for the Saraperos except for a recent outing where he got drilled for 4 runs in an inning, ballooning his era to about 4.

Mex League season ended end of July..
Leon is to play this fall and winter as I understand it, so he is getting a short break at present.

One suggestion
Could you put the position each player played in the game before their name?
It is interesting to see what position prospects like Carter and Cardenas are playing in each game.

Bankston...
cleared waivers i presume from his DFA? Glad he’s still in the organization as he showed some pop when he was up.

Catchers are notorious for being late bloomers (See: Gio Soto)
So we will see if Donaldson can make it at higher levels. If he keeps hitting, he will be our catcher when he is ready. That, or he will take over 3B duties and they will move Carter back to 1B/DH. But I think they really want Carter to stick at 3B.

You do? Then why isn't he playing there every day?
As many errors as he’s made at 3B, I would think they would stick him at 1B, tell him to get really accomplished there, and figure he’s the 1Bman from 2010 on. (Though heaven forbid the A’s should get more than 10 HRs out of the 1B position.)

I agree that
Carter should learn to play 1B. However, I really like Doolittle so if Carter could become a decent 3B that would be ideal.
I really hope that Barton comes around, because I really feel he has all-star potential. He is still young so he can still develop some power, and he’s proven that he can handle 1B effectively. Let ’s not give up on him just yet.

Corey Brown seems to be finishing strong
After struggling initially in Stockton he is having a great August. At this point he is hitting a homerun every 11.8 at bats in High A. That’s some pretty serious power, considering Chris Carter is averaging a homerun every 13.2
The strikeouts are still a major problem but Brown definitely has power and speed going for him.

He's rapidly developing into the minor league version of Chris Young
Weird skillset, but I guess it’s valuable enough for a team…
