Breaking News
Scot Shields got an out
SADLY
I hate unproductive outs and the A's are producing them at record production
Yeah
BNSF have a yard there with about a zillion freights a day
I hate unproductive outs and the A's are producing them at record production
No
I was a switchman in New Zealand for 13 years. Also drove a few when no management was watching.
I could stop a freight train on a dime.
Had a bet for $100.00 who could stop a fully loaded freight closest to the switch with one application of the brakes. I got within about 6 inches of it. The whole crew tried it. The engineer one day, the conductor the next, myself and then my sidekick.
I worked with the same engineer so he used to let me take the controls out on the main line. The only thing he didn’t like was I used to wind those locos up too quick and blow all the sand out at times

C'mon, take one for the team!

Has a 4 game series ever had a grand total of 4 runs scored?

Is this a bad time?
I just woke up. I hate when I fall asleep when it’s light and wake up when it’s dark. It’s still Thursday, right? I’d hate to think I skipped it and moved right on to Friday. For one, I am late for work.
I'm here to talk about the past.
the 30th

You just made my night. I had not heard about this.
This is sweeeet.
Seriously, I don’t even care if the A’s lose tonight now. This rules.

We're winning...
for now I know that may sound crazy but it’s true as of this moment, we might even add a run.
Oh shite
Wait…
YES!

Adding on?
I didn’t know that was possible.

Whoa
I got up, there was a runner on first.
I pulled the cookies out of the oven, he was running to second.
I close the oven, he’s on third.
And now, he scored. And the cookies are awesome. I should bake these for every game…
There's no crying in baseball!
I still say there will only be 4 uns scored this series by both teams
sunday neither team will show up.
I guess that pickoff play is part of why the Mariners are where they are in the standings

and he beat the tag to the bag.

I noticed that too
throwing the bat at the ball
No speed on the swing.
Everytime I start to think that he has an awful 0-15 stretch where he looks lost again
It’s hard to say at this point. I’ve decided to just not worry too much about it and hope that next year he’s able to start fresh and not think about 2008.

Ken said Barton has twice hit the ball hard to no avail

I’m going to do a Walmart online survey – bought a backpack there yesterday. First time I have ever bought anything at the big W.

You know what makes me feel better about life?
The Mariners signed Kenji Johjima to a three-year extension in late April. They have him through 2011. What a terrible contract.

Five current starters with their day in the rotation
Gio (Friday), then Meyer Saturday, Eveland Sunday, Braden Monday, Smith on Tuesday.
Hopefully none of those five goes down because our options beyond them are pretty grim.

Saarloos...
reminds me of the type of guy who could fulfill the role that Duke had when he first got here in long relief, or in our future bailing out starters who get waxed in the first 1-3 innings, maybe not against Seattle but in our near future.
I'm the backup starter
By the weekend, I’ll either be in the rotation, or I’ll be a VP candidate. I’m not sure yet which, but I’m ready to step in wherever I’m asked.

The gutsy move would be an IBB and try for a double play
But you just can’t expect that to work. Can’t put the winning run on like that.

Did I mention that Hannahan is pathetic
I hate unproductive outs and the A's are producing them at record production
And we also go back to having Ziggy pitch two innings for just about every save.

But he made up for his error, I guess. He still isn’t good at baseball.

Ichiro
Did he choose to go by his first name rather than Suzuki to distinguish himself from the previous Seattle ROY Sasaki? Sounds similar. Sasaki had to get outta town.
No, he goes by Ichiro
because Suzuki is like Smith in Japan. ….not that Ichiro is particularly distinctive, but it’s not quite as generic as Suzuki.

Stripey the cat
hit the send key too soon. Party on. Emil said nice things about Brad. Fosse’s questions are sooooo longwinded.
"longwinded"
This has been discussed for years on this blog.
Actually,it’s not a “question”…It is a question and the answer to that question, all in one question.
…and it usually ends with, “How great does that feel?”
"Oh, man, it feels great, Ray " says (insert name from roster here).

If I was Minny, I wouldn't wait to get a lead
I would bring in Joe Nathan now to face Tex, Vlad and Hunter
I hate unproductive outs and the A's are producing them at record production
Only for the fact that I HATE the Angels
and like to see them lose just so their fans are pissed off.
I live amongst them.

when Hunter misjudged the ball.

Well I can't disagree with that...
however I definitely don’t like the twins either. It seemed like we could never beat them until two years ago, but I’ll take the twins in this spot.
