The A’s have signed Pepperdine righthander Brett Hunter for $1.1 million, a draft record for a seventh-rounder. Hunter projected as an early first-round pick before injuring his elbow in his second start of the year. After missing most of the college season, he returned to pitch with Team USA’s college team this summer.

Did you know that Rob Deer refused to play with anyone named Hunter?

I thought it was this Hunter

But then the Angels would counter our move by signing the Rock before next year’s all star game wrestlemania.

On a similar note, I think Cust should have “SLUG” and “TAKE” tattooed on his knuckles …

I'm a fan, too, I guess. But I sorta hate the business now that I'm in it.
And I never have to take a bump.
How many people look forward to getting a real job to get out of wrestling? Probably not too many.

Wow. Great news.

3 first round picks
So, if you include Hunter and Inoa, the A’s really ended up with the equivalent of three first round picks this year with Inoa being that same as a top 3 pick, Hunter being the same as a top 10 pick, and Weeks (overdraft) being a top 30 pick.
It would be better if the A’s had convinced Elgie or Warren not to go to school so the A’s could have gotten a few more high upsides bats, but it was a good draft none-the-less.
Sometimes life will strike you out on a curve ball and the only choice you have is to flip off the umpire and walk to first base anyway.

2 first-rounders ended up not signing:
The Nats guy, Crow, and Gerrit Cole of the Yanks, who chose to attend UCLA.
