Aug 15th draft signing deadline thread
So this friday will be the deadline to sign any players. we know they signed coleman, murray, berroa a week ago. but there's still several high profile college and highschool players remaining. since the team has hit rockbottom and the trade deadline day came and went with any action, this is the other route to continue rebuilding this farm system. There is really not much excuse to sign a couple more guys. The extra money is there with the low payroll. post articles if you find any updated info on these draft pick status.
College:
Hunter/Guilmet/Rusin/Glenn/Walton
Highschool:
Elgie/Warren/Maronde//Doiron/Crocker
i found this recently on guilmet/glenn
Those holes, Lopez says, could be negated somewhat if pitcher Preston Guilmet and third baseman Brad Glenn decide to return to college. Both were both late-round selections by Oakland but are expected to enroll in classes in a few weeks.
"Guilmet and Glenn coming back would give us a ray of hope," Lopez said. "Both players seem to be far away from signing pro contracts, so I'd be shocked if they decided to sign."

Boras
Why, is Boras their agent?
Sometimes life will strike you out on a curve ball and the only choice you have is to flip off the umpire and walk to first base anyway.

Maronde
If Boras really is Maronde’s agent, I’m 100% against signing him.
Boras is like a progressive cancer. You might think you have a chance early, while the player is being paid league minimum, but once the player hits arbitration he’s going to be more expensive then his peers because you actually have to fire Boras before he’ll let the player sign long term in his arby years (see Zito), and once the player hits free agency there are reports that Boras will literally lie to the player about how his team hates him to convince him to go on the free agent market.
With a Boras player, you might seem like you have control and a chance in the beginning, but as he progresses, you come to realize you were fucked from the start.

True!!!
Maronde by some is projected to be a first round selection in 3 years and if he does make it you can trade him early like Haren ( I’m not saying you can get that much) and get good prospects for a good lefty. I do agree with you 110 percent on boras!!!

The "little big three"
I’d like to see Hunter, Elgie, and Warren signed. Two young prospects with power potential and a good pitcher would go a long way to rebuilding this team.

Wholeheartedly agree on those three plus any others he could put in his pocket by the 15th...
Referring to BBeane obviously and the need to fill his pockets by the 15th so we do not lose them…
