Barton Reinstated, Petit Called Up, A. Brown to DL
Certainly a busy afternoon for the A's just mere hours before the game against the Red Sox. Daric Barton has been reinstated from the 15-day DL after injuring his neck and head from diving into a shallow pool, and Andrew Brown has been sent to the DL for the second time this season, this time because of right shoulder soreness. Meanwhile, INF Gregorio Petit has been called up from Sacramento in his third stint this season with Oakland. The A's now carry 11 pitchers.

I guess that answers who plays 1B today
Also, I’m glad Petit was called up. Now we just need Pennington instead of BoCro, Patterson instead of Hannahan, Murton instead of Brown, Meyer for Embree (with Braden to the pen and Meyer to the rotation), and Devine for DiNardo. And maybe just maybe Herrera for Davis, if we want to see what rushing Javier does.

Herrera is dreck
I’d DFA him before I’d bother calling him up to the majors. Maybe it was roids, maybe it was injuries, maybe it was bad makeup—whatever it is, he’s really not good at baseball.
I hate to say “I called it” when “it” is an injury, but Brown really hasn’t looked right for some time.
