Mark Mulder Just Left the Game
I feel bad for Mulder. He just left the Cardinals game in the first inning after facing three batters. I don't want to speculate on what it is, but Mulder has been fighting to come back from tons of shoulder issues for a while now. He had a long road back and this was his first start in almost a year.
I always loved Mulder when he was an Athletic. I'm sorry to see that happen, but best of luck to him.
This could definitely make the Cardinals buyers around the deadline and the A's have a Blanton to deal. He's a guy that never gets injured and I think Blanton would have a lot more success in the National League. We shall see.

yeah I was watching
on his last pitch the pain was obvious on his face.

Sad. His 1 hour 50 mins
complete games were great to watch.
When will then be now? Soon.

A fireworks game too...
Was reading the posts on here, tuned into the replay on ESPN @ midinight. The announcers said it was a fireworks game. Even more of a bummer. You know Mark was excited about that.

Great minds think alike -
I was writing a Mulder fanpost as you were posting this one. Sad day.

Had the game on here and saw that.
It’s unfortunate.

Glad I missed it
I turned it off because of the rain, and turned it back to see he was already out. This makes me sad. My Mulder action figure may finally need to be retired.

I misunderstood and thought he was retiring
based on the title, so now I actually feel a little better that he just “left the game” and his arm hasn’ t totally fallen off…yet.

But if this is as bad as it seems
Retirement might not be far along.
This is sad. I still hope he can bounce back.

I can't help but think...

wow
this really is a huge shame. He was great to watch and gave the A’s come great years. It’s hard to watch him having such a tough time.

Mulder
He’s a local guy, grew up about 10 minutes from where I live now. He actually dated somebody I know when he was in high school. I’ve never met him, but I’ve known quite a few people who have and by all accounts he’s a great guy. Yeah, the A’s definitely “won” that trade, but they still would’ve won the trade if Mulder’s arm hadn’t fallen off.
Here’s a lesson for all the people (and I’m one of ‘em) who’s upset with the Harden deal: Hope the 4 players the A’s got in return are awesome, but hope that Harden can, at the very least, stay healthy. I typically root against the Cubs, but the last thing I want is for Beane to look like a genius because Harden’s career ends prematurely.

I agree 100 percent. I have read too many times on other websites about how this deal will be work out if Harden’s arm falls off. I truly hope Mulder will come back soon, I also hope that Harden’s career continues for a long time (maybe we can sign him when we move! Yeah I didn’t think so). We should be concerned about the performance of the players we receive, as well as, giving our best wishes to our ex-athletics.

Was watching his outing and his arm slot
did not look good at all. It was not even quite 3/4 and he used to throw almost over the top (it was almost a side arm slot today). I’m not sure the Cards did Mulder any favors with tinkering with his arm slot. He just never looked right as a Cardinal, mechanically with his arm slot.
Hope he can make a comeback, if that’s what he wants.

Blanton for Pujols!!!!!!!11
Seriously, though, if we want Rasmus how many of our SP prospects would it cost us (assuming Blanton also goes)?

The folks at Viva El Birdos
are really, really high on Rasmus. It would take a lot to get him.

Poor guy.
Makes me miss the days when the Big Three seemed infallible.

To Mr. Mulder
None of the big three could do it quicker. He was a stud for us and, as sad as I was to see him leave Oakland, this makes me sadder.
Mulder is dead. Long live Mulder.

Mulder was a teriffic Oakland A but you have to question the great one LaRussa and Dunc I don’t think he was ready to return to the majors after his brief stint in the minors. Wish him the best the man was a gamer!!

Remember when everyone was mad Billy traded him
The A’s snookered the Cardinals in that deal.

And watch Harden break down next.
The A’s see to know when a guy is running on fumes.
Except when that guy is playing third base.

I dunno ...
The organization was pushing Chavvy pretty hard for a couple years to have surgery before Chavvy finally relented. Should they have traded him (before he troughed) because he refused for so long? I honestly don’t know what I think about that question.
