Visiting Oakland
AN, Me and my brother haven't been back in Oakland for about ten years, and we are finally making a visit, but just had a couple questions. Does the BART run anywhere near the stadium? And if so how close is it? If it doesn't are there any decent motel/hotels near the stadium in a fairly safe neighborhood? If the BART does run to the stadium: would there be a hotel/motel one would recommend near a BART stop in San Leandro (which is where we used to live, and want to revisit)? Any advice on the subject would be appreciated.

There is a BART stop right at the stadium.
It’s the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station, and it’s just a very short walk over a pedestrian bridge to the stadium. I think there is a shuttle to the airport from that stop, so you might investigate whether that same shuttle makes stops at the airport-area hotels.
As for other hotels/motels, sorry, I can’t help…

There is, you need $3 exact change (unless they've upped prices)
It runs direct from the Airport to the station, though, so the only way to use it would be a hotel with a free airport shuttle. My guess is that a local bus would work better.

I know the Oakland Hilton has a shuttle
that goes both to/from the airport and to/from the Coliseum. Their driver always tries to run me over after the game.

There are hotels just down the street
right off the airport exit, many of them. Welcome to Oakland. Bring a flack jacket and did you hear we traded Harden?

Yeah the hotels near the Coliseum aren't in so nice of an area, and you can get in on BART easily
I’d grab a room near Downtown Berkeley BART and BART in from there and do my hanging out in Berkeley. Downtown Oakland also seemed much better to me the last time I was there than I had remembered from like 10 years back, and there are good Hotwire rates and BART access there as well.

The area isn't that bad.
I actually stayed at one of the hotels near the Coli. There’s a Quality Inn (where I stayed), La Quinta, and Days Inn all right there together. Quality and La Quinta offer a free shuttle to the airport. Then I would take AirBart ($3) to the Coli BART station. Days Inn has a free shuttle that will take you to BART. I also walked! to the Coli for a day game. I’m a female in my early 20s who was walking alone. No one bothered me. Also, there are tons of people who walk to the Coli from that area. Traffic is a little difficult for walkers crossing the intersection. There is a sidewalk the entire way, too.

Thanks for all the help
This is all excellent help. It sounds like the best gameplan would be to either stay at a hotel very close to the coliseum or pick a nice place with a BART station. We will definitely do one or the either.
The next step I guess is to ask if anyone might have some extra tix/tix they don’t need for Sunday’s game. If you do, and want to give them away or offer them for a discounted price, that would be huge. My brother is moving from Vancouver to Santa Barbara, (hence the visit to Oakland), so money is gonna be tight on the way down so I’m looking for value.
Which leads me to my final question…if we do end up having to buy Tix at the stadium, what’s the best bang for our buck? Taking in to consideration view, price, etc…
Once again, thanks for all this help.

This Sunday?
With the number of ads I’ve seen/heard/been emailed, this Sunday is far from sold out. If you can’t get tickets ahead of time, you’ll have no problems getting them at the gate.

I have to ask
How could you live in San Leandro and not know if BART goes to the Oakland Coliseum?

because when I lived there
I was ten, and my mom always drove to the stadium. I’m sorry I wasn’t familiar with Oakland mass transit at that age.

Okay
It seems odd that one could live in San Leandro and not ever take BART or at least see the tracks. But if your mom drove you everywhere, I guess it makes sense.
