Now Harden's Gone, Who's Next?
Now that Harden and Gaudin have been dealt to the Cubs for a collection of talent that none of us expected, who are the A's going to deal next?
It does not make sense to deal an Ace and a solid starter for a 5th starter and some backup outfielders unless the A's are going to be making some other trades in the coming hours, days, or weeks. Mulder was dealt the next day after Hudson, after all. Swisher was dealt soon after Haren.
So who is next? Duchscherer? Blanton? Street?

I say extend Duke & Ellis
but part with Blaton & Street for the right price.

Duke & Ellis
Sounds like a heavily-advertising law firm

I wonder
If Blanton is worth anything?
If Harden and gaudin could only get this package, then what could blanton get?

Gallagher
projects to me more than 5th starter, I think.

No they are right
I have read where he could be a solid 3rd starter or better and even some comparison to Haren at the same stages of development. Now that is not to say that he will be great or even close but lets at least see what happend first before we start rioting and pillaging

Oh come on,
5th starter? He’s got a decent ERA, and decent K walk rates this year, at age 22 in MLB. In the minors, he’s K / BB rates were pretty good, also pretty good ERA.
He’s essentially Gaudin, except that he’s a few years younger.

Sean Patrick Gallagher (what an Irish name!)
He’ll be good. Look at this minor league stats. 25 home runs allowed in 481 minor league innings.
9 K’s/IP in the minors. 22 years old, throws 91-94. Looks like the next Danny Haren to me.

wait!
As far as next Dan Haren goes, I don’t mean few walks a lot of HR’s, I just mean solid #2 or #3 starter that pitches like a #1 because of McAfee.
And I didn’t know using the * * things around words made them bold!
COOL

Wow Zonis.
The trade is hours old and your on to the next thing. I admire your get-to-it-ive-ness, but I gotta at least see how these new guys fit onto this 2008 team before I start thinking about the next trade.

Emil Brown
He’s in the lineup today versus Seattle, but once Murton flies over from Chicago, our outfield is going to be very crowded. Unless… Beane wants a six man outfield… I mean he has already surprised us once today.
But I really think Billy can pull off a trade for some C or B list prospect. Sorta like the Kotsay for Devine trade a while back.

For Emil Brown?
I know he’s like a borderline All-Star and all that, but that seems optimistic to me.

We need more optimism.
Emil Brown for MVP and Gold Glove! Hell, he can go for the Triple Crown, he does lead our team in RBI’s…
That’ll show those pessimists.
But really, he’s going either way, thats obvious. For a low level prospect or DFA’ed. I like the first choice.
by Clive on Jul 8, 2008 10:09 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
you think that's optimism?
Emil is going to outpitch Duke in the second half and storm past him to win the CY FREAKIN YOUNG!!!

I would think Street would be the next to go
and that’s too bad. I still think he’s going to Tampa since they have a lot of prospects
