Bankston has some power
Partially fooled and uses all upper body to power that out.
Swooney is the bomb with RISP. Developing into a hitting machine. The power will come as well.
It'd be nice to see Bankston continue to do that after the league adjusts to him

I think Geren played it perfectly
I’d like Ziggy to be the 8th inning guy, but even if he were I would have said bring him into the 6th because THAT was the situation where he was most needed. So even if Ziggy were the “8th inning guy” normally, once you have bases loaded and one out in a one-run game, you switch them around and give Ziggy the 6th/7th, wait for a lefty and go to Embree. Well done.

not that i'm an expert in women's softball
but don’t the ladies typically slap the ball to left, while the japanese players tend to pull the ball?
Barton did not do a great job on that one ...
Interesting to see the stat about the A’s winning a game without a walk about two years ago …
Anyone but Ichiro...

I needed a team so I wouldn’t turn into one of the eighty million pink hat-wearing Bud Light-drinking mulleted idiots at Fenway.
To his credit
Props to Washburn for pitching a CG for his team. On a day when they had zero bullpen available, they really needed it.

Eveland's gotta be tired by this part of the season
Give him props for hanging in a tough game and give us a chance.
by asfansince1989 on Jul 7, 2008 9:32 PM PDT up reply actions
He pitched like crap
Very few first-pitch strikes, 13 baserunners and 0 Ks against the worst offense in the league, bailed out by Ziggy in the 6th. He’s not tired – I’M tired after watching him throw 100 pitches, 47 balls.

Pitching coach Curt Young said Eveland had great stuff
I trust his judgment. But Eveland K/BB ratio has dropped as the season progressed, so it is a concern.
To me, Eveland is an example of where
you can look at peripherals and foresee trouble. You can’t escape on leaving them loaded, great throw to the plate, liner right at the 3Bman…forever. He pitches behind in the count way too much, walks too many, and gives up too many line drives for a guy who also walks a bunch of people.
Hopefully he’ll get there, but my point is he’s nowhere near “there” now, regardless of his current ERA.

To be fair
All major publications projected Eveland to be nothing more than a fourth starter. And lately, he’s been pitching exactly like a fourth starter.
"We were s--, pathetic," Guillen growled early in spring training. "We hit too many home runs."
hey, yeah... Dana get's the W?
I was thinking it would be Ziggy. Alas.

I don't mean to ruin it for you,
but in the episode you’re about to watch there’s a really bizarre disease that no one can diagnose, until House figures it out while breaking most medical rules and irritating people so much that they are loathe to acknowledge his genius.

It’s the snappy writing I enjoy… the story arc is exactly the same each time. Which is why House re-runs work. I’ll forget a funny line and be amused all over again, yet I never think “Oh, I remember how this one goes”... cuz they all go the same.
