Where to sit at McAfee?
I'm planning my very first trip to Oakland to see the A's play a couple of games at home. I was hoping all you locals could give me some advice as to where the best seats are located in McAfee stadium. Price isn't really an option. I live in New York and to go to a Yankee game is an arm and a leg, so I'm used to it. Besides, I've been an A's fan since I was 8. I don't care how much it costs, I just want to have the best view of the game. Also, I'd like to sit with the "die hard" fans for a game. Where do they sit? Any suggestions?

If you're going to a couple of games
then I’d cover both extremes of price - one game in the best seat you can find, MVP or Diamond Level - and one in the left field bleachers where the die-hard fans are. For the good seat, I would call the A’s box office and ask what they might have - especially if you’re coming by yourself, they might have some great singles that the computer won’t turn up as fast buying online. You should also check the ticket section of craigslist in the Bay Area; there are several season ticket holders who sell there, and especially if you’re coming for a midweek game or a less popular opponent, you may be able to score some great seats at face value or below.
For the bleacher seat, you can buy it online or at the same time as the other one; they’re unreserved. Go to section 135/136 and get as close to the front row as possible - you won’t likely be able to sit in the front row because the flagbearers generally have it, although they may let you move up there if not everyone shows up. Wear AN gear if you have it and don’t be shy.

And no one calls it anything but the Coliseum, BTW
unless they’re speaking in an official capacity.

Thanks for the heads up.
Is it better to sit down the 1st or 3rd base line, or behind the plate. It’s confusing because of the huge foul ball territory at the Coliseum. I’ll def be in my AN gear! As soon as I decide when I’m going I’ll let y’all know. It would be great to sit with other AN’ers at the game.

Night games
If you go for a night game, be warned it can get really cold with the breeze on the 1st base side. I have found some amazing deals on StubHub, it may take some time to dig through them all, but I just got 2 MVP’s for tomorrows game for under $75 (and that included all the fees).

I have a soft spot in my heart for section 111 (first base line)
But that’s my bias more than a real answer

that is like
how I have a soft spot for section 128 but I have no actual reason to give other than it’s “my” section.

SEC 121-120.
I made a trip out from ATL a few weeks ago, and we were in section 121. The seats were about six or seven rows behind the A’s dugout, but they were pretty dang good. They were at a great angle towards the field, and we were surrounded by tons of true fans. I think being on the right side of the dugout really helped negate that distant feel you can get as you get seats further down the baselines. I remember feeling really out of touch with the game sitting further down the line, near the outfield, because you are so dang far from the playing field you may as well watch the game on TV.
I think the tickets were like $55 or so. Nothing compared to any other park out there, so I would definitely recommend those seats.
What about Barry?
"Barry who?" Forst said, and I felt like I was in the middle of a knock-knock joke.

how many tickets?
you can find 1 right behind the dish (row 12 or so) in oakland for $50 or so on stubhub. Row 12 puts you about three rows from the front. two seats can be had for the same but you’d be in row 25 or so.

Try the dugout. With all the injuries, half the team is unrecognizable, you could
slide right in, maybe play a little ss while you are at it.

If interested?
I’m a season ticket holder and my seats are in section 106 first row. Right behind the visiting dugout. I think they are the best seats in the house. But they are right about die hard fans in the bleachers. I’m also a die hard fan (season ticket holder for 21 years) but prefer to seat on the 1st base side. Are you by yourself? Do you know when you will be here?

217
I’ve sat everywhere in the stadium from Field Level behind the plate to the LF bleachers and lately my favorite section has been 217, which is the second level right behind the plate. Pretty much the same view as in comparable seats in other stadiums, where you get a great view of the pitches as they leave the pitcher’s hand and come across the plate. For my money, it’s by far the best place to follow the pitcher/batter matchups.
You can usually find tickets in that section on Stubhub for not too much over face value, so I think about $30/seat.

my favorite sections are 216, 217, and 218
For most games, you can get tickets there anytime from the A’s website. I usually have no problems walking up and getting a pair there.

nah, Section 128. You can reach out & give Ziegler
a high five. Plus that’s where Huston & the bully boys hang out.

128
is where i’ll be wednesday…row 1. thought it would be fun to sit in the first row behind the bullpen.
usually prefer the area behind the plate though since it’s not so far from the field
there just are not very many really good seats in the coliseum with all the foul territory.
