Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum
espn.com ran a piece today profiling the Coliseum and in one of the photos from one of the 70s world series, you could barely see the old centerfield set-up. i didn't really become interested in stadium architecture until after the raiders renovation, so i was wondering if anybody has old pics (from in the stadium and hopefully aerial photos) from before the renovations. we should celebrate the good parts of the Coliseum in the next few years leading up to construction of the new field.

Some good pics in the post.
i thought the year the had a fence instead of the wall in the outfield was awesome…bleachers extended out to the fence also. there is one photo in the above thread that shows the setup that year…i think it was only used for 1 season.
Yeah, it was a half wall, half fence setup. My first game was in 1986 and it was before that.

I definitely remeber the half-wall days....
You could sit in the bleachers and go all the way down to the field…you could make such a racket during rally time on the movable part of the bleachers too!!!
Also saw a couple of the photos witht the home plate to center field orientation of the football field…used during the USFL days…
Yeah…the first photo definitely shows how good it used to be on a nice sunny day game…
