Who's left at AAA?
Ken Korach mentioned during the pre-game that Ryan Sweneey's ankle is swollen like a balloon and Donnie Murphy felt a pop in his elbow last night and Carlos Gonzales' hamstring is still bothering him. The A's actually have just one player on the bench, Kurt Suzuki. This roster is getting worse by the day. I think some moves have to be made and you can't play this day-today crap because you can't have just one extra player (and he being your 2nd catcher at that.)

Actually, nevermind. I'd posted something about Joe Gaetti and Larry Davis but...
...it looks like I was in the game thread instead of here. Oops.

What I'd meant to post here: Maybe Joe Gaetti gets a cuppa at some point.
Aside from that, maybe this is going to show that Larry Davis wasn’t the scapegoat so many people believed he was.
I never got the vitriol sent his way, either. Just because he’s overweight doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to look after others. That’s not to say his methods were always correct or that he didn’t make mistakes or avoid straying from techniques he was used to, but I remember seeing a lot of people just focusing on his gut first.

I understand that
Not discounting his knowledge nor his aptitude but it’s hard to take seriously a trainer for professional athletes who looks like he’d struggle doing a sit-up. It would be like taking ESL lessons from George Bush
right
it’s like going to a personal trainer who is overweight
"It's not my fault your team's so shitty." -Steve Friend, head coach, Chabot College, to Laney College's head coach, who asked why we scored so many runs after we beat Laney 30-3 in 2006

Some of the best hitting coaches
Were actually very mediocre (or terrible) major league hitters.

Travis Buck.
"We were s--, pathetic," Guillen growled early in spring training. "We hit too many home runs."
exactly
Travis F’n Buck. I don’t know where the arbitration clock is, but I assume that’s a factor and why he didn’t come up as soon as PC felt so much as a twinge. And if that’s true, it really sucks.
I don't think arby clock has anything to do with it
Buck just came back from a concussion and hasn’t even been playing at AAA, and Gonzalez will probably be back in the A’s lineup as early as Monday.

re
Buck came off the DL June 30. I remember reading last month that his arby clock was within 25 days, I just don’t remember if I read that at the beginning of the month or the middle. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t a factor at all. Saving $3-5 million isn’t chump change for the A’s.
No, but I don't think the A's
feel he’s ready to hit big league pitching right now. If they thought he was, I think they’d call him up at a time when every OFer who can hit is limping around, the team is still in contention, and the offense sucks and has no true leadoff hitter.

Also, Harden’s head fell off, Duchscherer spontaniously combusted, Emil Brown fell into the bottomless pit, and Suzuki got hypnotized and thinks he’s a chicken.

Emil Brown fell into the bottomless pit
Is that how we’re saying DFA these days? Please oh please oh please
Apparently not
Which makes me sad. Although with all the injuries sprouting up now would be a terrible time.
