Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Reserved for post-trade deadline rantings

This sucks.  I was hoping that Street and Duch. would be traded for top of the line prospects.  Obviously, other teams didn't think that it was worth it.  I'm totally guessing here but i think that it had more to do with Beane asking for too much, but i guess we'll never know.

Star-divide

Now what?  Do we really have to watch Street blow up the rest of the season?  My guess is that Duch comes back down to earth and finishes with an ERA around 3.40.  That's still great for a first year starter, but his value would go down from where it is now.  Or, he'll get hurt again.

Here's to a lineup of Brown, Crosby, Hanahan, and Thomas for the rest of the year....

Pirates got LaRoche

according to ESPN and Foxsports, LaRoche was part of the Manny three-team trade. That will please AN folks.

eh

His position and handedness are appealing, but he’s already injury prone. He’d be six feet under after 2 weeks with the A’s.

That said, I like that trade for the Pirates if he stays healthy. I think Brandon Moss is really going to surprise some people (Craig Hansen…no).

I blame Dan Johnson

DAN JOHNSON

Guy kills AAA pitching and can’t hit a lick in the show. THAT Dan Johnson.

Even if Duke ends up with a 3.40

that will be close to what Haren did last year. Great first half and then come back to earth. Although he isnt as young or have the great stuff Haren does, I think he’ll still be valuable. Be it with the A’s or somebody else.

Waaaaah! The world is agin me.........Waaaaah......

best. post.

"If you hit .440 with 20 bombs, you don't have to do s---. You don't have to bring a glove to practice, just hit and leave whenever you want. You can bring a 40 and smoke a cigarette and call me from the parking lot asking me what time the game is, and I'll tell you. You can even say 'F--- you, Steve!' the best part is...

actual quote, said in front of the whole team at our initial team meeting. he had some good rants, that’s for sure

LOL! Nailed it!

You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the goddamn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all. ~Earl Weaver

Trade deadline came and went....

Time to see what free agent is out there this up coming off-season.

Cheap FA to consider:
Dallas McPherson, who is having a terrifice year in AAA with the FLA
Rocco Baldelli, made 2.5 Mil this year. See what he’ll get this year.

"Hey dad my Jack Cust Bobblehead is batting right handed"....."He's not batting right handed he's striking out swinging."

i like the d mac idea

who cares about strikeouts! team cust/dmac for president!

baldelli has tons of injury problems… im not so sure about that one.

Cust is the new Jaha.

I think I know why no moves today...

...there’s nowhere to put more prospects.

Seriously. Who’d get kicked off the 40-man? You bring in an OF, you waive Denorfia?

Minimal benefit.

Better to get draft picks for your FAs or swing some one-year deals to hold guys.

Surprised they didn't bring in someone who can play a corner infield spot

but they must have plans for someone to take over next year (free agent? player move?)

I am still wondering who the heck is going to play 1B tonight. Maybe they will put a guy there from another position (Brown?) or perhaps Barton returns.
