The Cubs fans were right, Gallagher's curve needs a lot of work.
It’s been hammered twice now (at least).
Hey Oakland Whattya Say! Weve Scored All Of Our Runs Today!

He can't afford to throw it very often, or he's tempting the (g)odds
I’d like to see him refine his changeup and throw that more instead of the curve.

Aye. He's young, he's got plenty of time to refine his pitches.
The curve should be a show me pitch at this point though.

No. It was a brain dead dumbass decision.
Cust hit the ball about 200 miles per hour on a line off the wall. Guillen was playing deep, got the ball pretty much immediately, and threw it in. It didn’t require anywhere near a close rely. Gonzalez was out by about 25 feet.

He's actually a good hitter.
I agree with the FJM theory that it doesn’t matter whether you’ve played the game or not to know what players are good, etc.
However, I DO think that great hitters are able to help other hitters.
Ted Williams couldn't. Willie Mays couldn't.

Wes Bankston-the stats and the psychology
You read stuff like “The Book” which explains and describes a lot of hitting situations and statistical outcomes, but it surely falls short in, ironically, the one area they make note of:
“context”
Here was Wes Bankston, doing well, hitting well, playing well, and saying, “This is my moment, I have to take advantage of it.” He did, but his reward? He was sent down when he didn’t expect it. It kind of showed. He hit at a mediocre rate when he went down to Sacto. Sure, he was playing under duress in NY (late flight, dehydration) so that might have “set the tone” but the guy’s just not the same person that came up earlier.

Percival, Rodney, Betancourt/Kobayashi/Cleveland’s next guy whoever it may be, CJ Wilson, whoever Atlanta is using, Gregg (nice numbers, but he went from being mediocre reliever in the AL to awesome closer in the NL and he’s now past typical prime years), whoever is closing for the Nationals, Torres, Isringhausen, Valverde, Capps, Cordero, Lyon, Broxton (he’s closing with Saito out, right?), Fuentes, Brian Wilson, Hoffman.
I came up with 17, and that’s taking into account Street is having a bit of a down year.
