Open Thread: Game 85 - A's at White Sox (cont.)
Just when it looked like Javier Vázquez was going to shut the A's out and strike out 20+ in the process, Jack Cust happened. With one Custian swing, the ball soared majestically into the right field seats in ChiTown, tying the game at 2-2. But the A's weren't done, as super-sub Donne Scutaro Murphy smacked a shot of his own into the left field bleachers, giving the A's a one-run lead.
Meanwhile, Cust and Ryan Sweeney have been doing their part in the outfield as well, keeping Duchscherer and team up by a single tally going to the sixth. Let's go A's!

Whether it works out or not, let's chalk this one up to...
...another example of bullpen mismanagement.
I know he’s a rookie but as long as Ziggy is getting people out he should be saved for late-game situations from here on out. Instead Geren opens with Embree and goes straight to Street after Embree gets into trouble.

Street was huge this game..
After having the BP let us down the past two nights, having him come in and shut down the Sox in such a huge situation was much needed..

From the first base side camera angle. They were hot.

Yeah
I watched the end of that game
3 different pitchers couldn’t get an out. Shouse came in and threw 1 pitch and gave up a 3 run double with a floater that a blind orangatang could have swatted with it’s rear end

Luckily for Shouse, very few teams
keep a blind orangutan on their roster.

1.96 ERA now
Who woulda thunk that four batters into the game.
That showed true grit to settle down. Barton helped with that line drive DP but apart from that DUke was very happy except when he saw Embree come in.

especially, listen to MLB. com
Gameday comments on the highlights of the first inning. The dissed Cust bigtime. Switch on the “Dye RBI double” and listen.
Then Cust gets the HR. The call was akin to noticing a beer vendor was throwing change to a customer…
monotone, flat..
