Where are the trade rumors? (OPEN THREAD)

I need trade rumors.  Websites aren't updating fast enough!!!  Nothing is happening!!!  I want Duke to St. Louis rumors...  Duke to Colorado rumors... Duke to LAD rumors...  Embree to LAA rumors...  Street to Det. rumors...

Star-divide

I want rumors.  Doesn't anyone realize that the trade deadline is this week?  I NEED TRADE RUMORS!!!!  Maybe this should've been a fanshot or something but I need the latest rumors no matter how ridiculous they are.

Me too!

But all recent and developing trade rumors have been traded for rumors to be named later.

i heard a rumor

Brett Favre wants to return. There is your rumor for the day.

Oh and a bonus, Manny Ramirez may have worn out his welcome in Boston.

beane

Billy Beane is usually quiet in the week leading up to the deadline and at the deadline. Dont expect any trades. Yes that includes Street.

but yea ive been checking for rumors as well. I think the best thing would be to trade Duke . Prefferably for a young SS or 3B. Trade Crosby.

Lets go Oakland! obvious.com

by bballfanr33 on Jul 28, 2008 2:19 PM PDT   0 recs

As of late thats been true, but he has traded at the deadline in the past

7/31/09 – Jeff D’Amico, Brad Rigby and Blake Stein to The Royals for Kevin Appier

7/30/03 – Aaron Harang, Joe Valentine and Jeff Bruksch to The Reds for Jose Guillen

Thats just to name a couple. You can see his entire trade history here

by GusanoQuemador on Jul 28, 2008 2:57 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Wait wait wait

You’re not only telling me that Kevin Appier makes a dramatic comeback in 2009, but that you also traveled to 2009 to see him get traded to the A’s?

Awe. Some.

Ryan Sweeney: I probably irrationally embraced him before you did.

by Joey C. on Jul 28, 2008 3:09 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Appier gets traded to the A's again?!

I was pretty happy with the deal in ‘99, but cut the cord already.

All is quiet in BeaneTown.

Rumor in MIA is B. Molina heading down from S.F. Don’t care about the Giants, but I have to say living here in MIA/Ft. Lauderdale I like the way the Marlins are hanging in there. They are fun, interesting.

Back to OAK. Would not mind to see these three leave OAK via trade:

Huston Street
Bobby Crosby
Alan Embree

I like Duke, but if now is the time to sell for 2010 and beyond for good ROI, then deal him out of the A.L.

by OakFaninFL on Jul 28, 2008 2:26 PM PDT   0 recs

Can't we just get LaRoche already

Seriously, this is getting out of hand.

by mikev on Jul 28, 2008 2:44 PM PDT   0 recs

Seriously

Get a damn 3rd baseman,

"With 16-year-old Dominican righty Michel Inoa in tow, Gio Gonzalez improving at Triple-A and lefty Brett Anderson carving up Double-Abatters along with Simmons and Trevor Cahill, Oakland’s pitching depthis officially the envy of baseball." - BaseballAmerica.com

by Syphon on Jul 28, 2008 3:25 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I'm in favor of Street for LaRoche, but that's all.

Ellis and Duke I’d rather we keep (and re-sign). Anyone else isn’t worth what we’d get back for them.

If any ANers own a time machine could they please print out the stat sheet for Hamilton from the last couple years and go back in time and find Billy Beane and hand him the sheet before he selects Goleski in the Rule V draft.

Can we just give Embree away?

He’s bringing up the team’s average age. We’re already the youngest in the majors, so we might as well do it with style.

Maybe we can get some unlucky team to give us lots and lots of Dibs in exchange for Embree. I’d do that deal.

by whiteshoes40 on Jul 28, 2008 3:06 PM PDT   0 recs

We're not the youngest, but close...

RNK Team Age
1 Texas 27.5
2 Minnesota 27.6
3 Florida 27.6
4 Oakland 27.6
5 Arizona 27.8

"Twenty minutes," says Jack Sr. "Thank god for Billy Beane."

by ST on Jul 28, 2008 3:40 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I'm sure that includes

Our DL whose Avg. Age could qualify for AARP benefits.
(I’m looking at you Sweeney)

This is yet another reason to get rid of E-mail and Embree.

The Stockton Ports pitching staff is better than the Orioles.

by gdub171 on Jul 28, 2008 3:46 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Oops.

Maybe recent transactions have upped the age, because I could’ve sworn the TV people said we were the youngest at some point recently… oh well.

because the Cards had supposedly made him available…..but he sprained his left knee and is out for a month, and teams generally don’t deal injured players.

by DCinWC on Jul 28, 2008 3:52 PM PDT   0 recs

no urgency for embree

as far as his value is buried down low among other lefty trade options for teams

if h e does get traded it’ll be last minute deadline deal or a throw in with a main piece

i think it will be a quiet deadline because the value for A’s players just isnt there

those names seem to be mentioned most in rumors before embree

sherrill
fuentes
ohman
rhodes
taschner

by Asfan4ever723 on Jul 28, 2008 4:08 PM PDT   0 recs

What is this fascination with Ohman?

From other teams, I mean.

He’s basically having a career year at age 30.

by mikev on Jul 28, 2008 4:15 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

he's got more Ks than IP over his career....

but he’s still a guy who needs a good defense behind him to be effective. He’s sporting a pretty unsustainable .217 BABIP.

nor do I understand why Epstein would give up that much for a reliever, even a very good one.
