Gallagher has had spouts of bad control
in all of his starts I have seen thus far
HELMET: Sandurz, what's going on?
SANDURZ: It's Mega Maid. She's gone from suck to
blow!
He is young
and his timing is a little suspect—I mean, if he were lacking in focus, it would rear its ugly head AFTER we score 5, right?

Ok....

Gallagher has a lot of K’s, a low ERA for the A’s, but allowed way too many batters to reach, and it would catch up to him.
It just caught up to him.

Conrad's error may have gotten the first guy on base
but it was the pitch that Gallagher threw that went over the fence
There's no crying in baseball!
A major league pitcher can't be expected to get all kinds of extra outs
against major league hitters.
http://bocropleasestopswingingatbadpitches.blogspot.com/
by thejd44 on Jul 25, 2008 8:30 PM PDT up reply actions
my point is that
he needs to settle down after the error. he can’t worry about the runner on first and forget what the game plan is for the batter. he left the pitch up, it was hit out, and that’s on him, not on the error.
There's no crying in baseball!
I'd let Gallagher keep going
He’s not been that bad, give him a taste of adversity.
The A's colors are green and gold.

he needs to learn how to have a shut down inning after his team gives him runs. Not getting an out until the fifth batter of an inning? Not good. A learning process for him? Absolutely.

I think it's more that he needs to learn to not lose his composure after giving up some runs
The A's colors are green and gold.
Yep, his pitch count is high for 4 innings, but not high for an outing
Let him go and work through this stuff.
It’s a lot more beneficial to see him try to get 6 innings out of this start than it is to see Alan Embree pitch (ever again).

How embarrassing to blow a 5 run lead
No matter who’s on the mound.
He has good stuff but when he implodes he does it right.
Geren should have gone out there and ripped into him like Lou did in Chicago. When that happened he settled down.
Anyway, it really is not upsetting when we are out of it. Just one of those things that happens. All part of learning.
And it is the Rangers
This is what they do.

OK, I know you've all been waiting on tenterhooks ...
I decided on the cassoulet. It’s gonna be … interesting with the carrots.

I agree with your choice
It sounds a little like lentils.
And, in fact, I was waiting on tenterhooks.

carrots (chopped finely) + heirloom lentils + hamhock/beef bone + parsley = perfection
I really needed some parsley and some bitter, leafy greens for the cassoulet. And a Belgian ale. Bring a 6-pack when you come for dinner.

Is that virtually every teenager alives strives to be a non-conformist. They’re conforming to non-conformity. It’s a paradox. It’s an oxymoron.

I think some runs are in order
especially since I don’t want Ziggy to break the record cheaply, after giving up the go-ahead run. Bad memory. Runs.
Runs.
Runs.
The A's colors are green and gold.
The trouble with the streak
is that it’s kind of dumb.
Ziggy’s job in this situation was to prevent the runner from scoring. He failed at that. And it’s not the first time he allowed an inherited runner to score.
That’s not to belittle Ziegler’s performance. He has been fantastic, and I’ve gotten a kick of out of the streak too. It’s something to be excited about.
But that inning is a reminder that the streak is a bit silly, even though its’ still going.
Not that silly as long as it's restricted to relievers who are all under the same conditions
The A's colors are green and gold.
