Well, another horrible offensive series.
I know I am probably about the billionth person to complain about the offense, but what I want to ask is if there is any trade or FA signing this off-season that will actually help us become contenders again. Obviously we can pitch we have about 10 good starters coming up, but really where is the hitting in the minors. The best guys (age included) that I find are in either AA or A ball and even then we really seem to lack that cornerstone offensive player. Sure we have a group of guys that can hit maybe 20 bombs and steal 30 bags, or the players that will hit .220 with 30 bombs. I just don't see the Big Mac, Giambi, or Tejada anywhere in our farm close to being ready for the majors. This isn't to say we don't have a talented farm system.
So does anybody think we may sign somebody like Pat Burrell this off-season to give us a chance to contend again? I personally think he may not be such a bad sign, but his price tag is going to be high and it seems that most of our offensive talent lies in the outfield. I know it is unlikely that we can legitimately contend for a WS next year, but it would be a nice change of pace to score some runs. I also know that it is usually the best move to sit and wait for the minors to develop, but by the time we develop our minors will this pitching be gone?
So if somebody sees a solution please tell me. Also what level is this Inoa/Iona (sp?) going to play at?

No solution here..
however, I was out of town for the Yankees series, apparently I didn’t miss much, but looking back at the box scores, Jack Cust was 1 for 9 with 8 Ks. Wow.

We have to trade for or sign through free agency
A known offensive quantity. Pat Burrell is a great example. He’s been a streaky throughout his career, but at season’s end he always has had good numbers.

I wouldn't waste a post on this one...
Except for that glaring “offesive” in the title.
I for one, am offended at the lack of the letter N.

and I normally wouldn’t be an ass and make fun of spelling errors, except that this probably is a waste of a fan-post and the condensed version of this would be a much better comment in an existing fan post.
The Stockton Ports pitching staff is better than the Orioles.

thank you
I was going to suggest what we really needed was the trade for the letter “N”

Oh my bad
Sorry about the typo I was kinda in a hurry. I know about the who might be traded, but the one article really gives no idea of who we would get. And naturally since one word (probably more i didn’t run it through a spell check) is wrong it means the whole thing is worthless. I’m just asking Jesus Christ forgive me for just asking a damn question.

if you want to hear the opposite, go over to LSB
how about you trade the rangers all of your stud pitchers for our beastly hitters. and i bet you anything we will still suck at pitching and yall will still suck at hitting. the 4 or 5 years nothing can change that fact, i dont get. we always suck at pitching???

I think he is saying that on Lone Star Ball (Rangers blog) you will find the opposite side of the coin
where they complain that no matter what they do, they get crappy pitching at all times.
If the A’s and Rangers swapped teams, the A’s would still have good pitching, and a horrible offense, and the Rangers would have a good offense and horrible pitching, because whatever each team tries to do, despite all efforts, it always seems to end up the same.
If I got that right.

the thing is
we don’t trade major leaguers or minor leagues for major leaguers for the most part in the last tw years. i think that’s what people are frustrated about.
