Barton yesterday said
that he is looking forward to regaining his confidence at Sacramento by tuning up his swing against minor league pitching. Too bad he had to jump head-first into 3 feet of water to get the A's to make this move. Hitting 220 with no power and the most errors of any 1st baseman in MLB wasn't enough?
I'm all for the A's youth movement provided the guys are ready. It's been obvious for quite some time that this excellent prospect isn't quite ready. Hopefully he'll regain his stroke and return to the A's when he's ready.

thanks for trying to save me the trouble of reading sfgate and the rotoworld blurb on the left side of AN, but unfortunately i have already read both.

"Barton," Yesterday said
That’s more poetic and economical than I could muster in an indictment of Beane and his scouts’ judgment in years past of hitting prospects, and their current move to stockpile pitching prospects instead.

This is after it said
Charles Thomas and Dan Johnson?
I think we should throw (Barton) head first, into a pool with no water, screaming, "You like THAT? Huh, kid, do you like THAT?" Maybe that’s just the Marine in me, though. -Nico

then I will have to trust Barton.

I think we need that fanpost etiquette thread permanently on the front page or something

Oh, HELL no.
There’s already something I started that’s permanently stuck to the front page whether I want it to be there or not (and I don’t).

I think they are going to go with Mike Sweeney for a while (until totally out of it)
Perhaps, they were planning to send Barton down when Mike got back for a while now. The injury might have made the process easier on the ego. Kind of like what happened to Buck back in April.

Good point . . .
tough to know what causes more damage to confidence—sending him to minors or letting struggle on the A’s. The injury is a good opportunity to avoid that dilema.
