One More Reason to Hate Anaheim
In case I wasn't completely assured that Angels fans were the biggest dillweeds, well this just confirms it. Between this idiot and the guy who threw the water bottle at Mike Piazza last year, I think I've probably made my last game to the Big A, which I'm quite certain now stands for BIG ASSHOLE! What else is new eh?

Sad to think that if a fan attacked Street,
it’s unlikely they would swing and miss.
Thank you, I’m here all week!

I've probably only been to..
6 or so games there but almost every single time I’ve been verbally attacked by Angels fans. before games, during games… even just walking to my car after a game I’ve been yelled at by guys, mostly obscenities. it’s REALLY uncalled for and they get totally out of hand. it’s a terrible feeling to pay so much money to go stay in a hotel, drive down there, and just want to enjoy the game and have people treat you like that. for this same reason I am always the first to stick up for visiting fans (even Angels fans haha) at the Coliseum because I know how much it sucks to be on the other end of that kind of treatment.
so yeah. this article doesn’t surprise me at all, sadly.

I'm assuming
by your name that you are a female right? If so and you have guys screaming obsenities at you, that’s really slack. I mean, regardless of whether or not they did that simply because you were an A’s fan, it’s very uncool for a guy to talk to a female in that manner. That’s only ok in extreme cases. It’s bad enough to act like an idiot at all, but much worse when a female is involved.

I'm not a fan of sexism, if that's what you're asking

That's what I was thinking
Hard to imagine anybody condemning good manners towards women.
I’d have a problem if the supposed “sexism” somehow brought women down. The bottom line is that while neither males nor females deserve to be yelled at, it’s worse to do so to a woman in most cultures.

So, let's see if i have this straight....
If I’m walking down the street with my wife and some guy yells some type of profanity at her, I’m sexist if i get a little more pissed than i would have if he yelled the profanity at me? If that’s the case, then yeah i guess i’m sexist. If that offends anyone here then i apologize; but i will continue to be sexist.

Is this fair?
About five years ago, a patron at the Coliseum threw a cell phone that hit Carl Everett in the back of the head. Are we to be judged by the actions of this cretin? Do you hear the insults and threats yelled at the fans of opposing teams at the Coliseum? Anaheim doesn’t have a monopoly on this sort of thing.

Didn't A's fans...
also get in a fight with the Rangers bullpen. Every team has fans that are jerks, it’s not really fair to judge a whole group of people because of one drunk fan. I went to the July 24th game at the Big A last year, and faced no heckling at all.
I extremely dislike the mudslinging that happens in rivalries sometimes. When it pertains to the game at hand, like “Ha, your bullpen sucks. We own you guys,” that is all fine and dandy. When it gets to BS outside of the actual game it’s frustrating. I get that enough between my college Auburn, and their rivals Bama. It’s as if every time the other school has a violation or player arrested the other team’s fans through parties over it, and celebrate in the papers and websites. There really isn’t anything cool about college students getting arrested.

Actually, that's revisionist history.
The Texas Rangers bullpen started a fight with A’s fans.
So it goes.

Francisco was wrong to throw a chair into the stands but it all started with a taunting jackass who said things to those players he had no business saying.

In my experience
and I went to quite a few Angels/A’s games when I was in college in San Diego, this happens A LOT less in Oakland then it does in Anaheim. A’s fans, and I’m being as objective as possible, really are a pretty classy group of people. Being a fan of Oakland is not synomous with being a Raiders fan or endorsing Raider fan behavior. I won’t vouch for Raiders fans because so many, MANY youtube clips can already attest to their behavior and unfortunately some of them do cross over to being A’s fans. I tink that is an exception rather then the rule and Anaheim is the inverse.

It's all relative
If the ratio of asshat fans to non-asshat fans is the same for Oakland and Anaheim one should expect to ecounter twice as many asshats Angels fans in Anaheim than asshat A’s fans in Oakland as there are atleast twice as many Angels fans going to games at the Big A then Oakland fans going to the Coliseum.

Disagree
Classy? No. We’ve had near-riots in the bleachers, a cherry bomb thrown from the upper deck onto fans below, and fights in the parking lots, sometimes between A’s fans. I’ve been to over 1,500 events at the Coliseum and the Arena since 1966 and just when I think I’ve seen it all, they come up a new way to misbehave. There is a huge overlap with A’s fans and Raiders fans so you can’t separate the two so easily. The A’s have their fair share of jerks at the games. Consider yourself lucky that you haven’t encountered many of them.

Everyone has idiot fans and you can't really generalize
I have been to over 100 games at the Big A over the last 20+ years and have never had a problem.

Agree easyraider.
I go to Angel stadium about 5 times a year and I’ve never had any trouble. And I like to have a few drinks and scream for the A’s myself. The worst I’ve had is getting heckled on the way out to my car, but no foul language or people getting physical.

I agree with this. People like to shout things like “2002!” at me when I’m leaving the game (or sometimes during the game), but it’s never malicious. Or like Tuesday night one guy said “aww always a bridesmaid!” and I just came back with “Wait, how many world series do you guys have?” and he was quiet after that. It’s all in good fun.
I’m upset that Huston had to go through this, but I don’t think it’s fair to label every Angel fan as violent and stupid.

Very shocking
that an Angel fan actually did anything at all. They are the worst fans in baseball. I have been to many visiting ballparks with my A’s gear on, and I always get some good old fashioned heckling. Nothing too bad. But at Angels stadium… nothing. I get a few looks, but no one heckles at all. No boos or get outta here, or A’s suck. They are the lamest fans!!

Last July, a fan was ejected from Angel Stadium and arrested for hitting Mike Piazza, then Oakland’s designated hitter, in the helmet with a half-full bottle of water.
Huh. I seem to remember that bottle being half-empty.
