Harden the All-Star
Question: If Rich Harden were selected to the All-Star game as the A's sole representative and then traded to the Cubs, would he still represent Oakland in the midsummer classic? Would he lose his place in the ASG and get replaced by Duke? Can I get a ruling on this?
Given that he went to a national league team, if he pitched in the ASG as an Athletic, wouldn't he have an incentive to throw the game?

Isn't this a moot point?
I mean, if Harden WAS selected to go to the All Star Game, his team, be it the A’s or Cubs, would never let him play in it for fear of him injuring himself.

Not sure about baseball, but
in hockey, about five or so years ago, Sandis Ozolinsh was traded from the Panthers to the Ducks during the all-star weekend, but before the actual all-star game. He represented the Panthers and played for the Eastern Conference. A little caveat to that is that in that particular year, the all-star game was played in Miami, his home arena. That may have influenced his decision.
RIch Harden Was Not Traded to the Cubs
He piched 6 shutout innings of 10K ball for the A’s on Saturday. Then on Sunday, the Angels backup catcher did not bunt a runner into scoring position with one out, and that same runner didn’t score from second base on a ground ball to our shortstop. Finally, our backup catcher / pinch “hitter” did not take a called strike 3 in the bottom of the 9th inning with one out and the tying run on 3rd base. The A’s are now 2 games out of first place. So I really don’t understand your question.
There was no question.

I think this was talked about before
Carlos Beltran was traded to the Mets after being named a Royals all-star. He played for the NL in the All-Star game.
Additionally
He was denied a roster spot after the trade, but was a last minute addition when Ken Griffy Jr. went down with an injury.

This question is very easily and quickly (more quickly than waiting for AN’s collective response) answered by using The (or doing A) Google.
I told them 'My game is like a blog.' Because I don't know what a blog is, but it don't sound good. @('.')@
Additionally, a question
Will this post of mine remain on my total if the entire fanpost is deleted? If not, I sure did just waste my time.

You nailed it
I’d be surprised if Duke, who iirc has made less than $5 million his entire career, could turn down a contract that sets him well for life, really anything over $20 million. $30 million with the option would be generous, but I would be thrilled if they got that done (and he’d still be tradeable if the budget required so.)
As far as trading him, boy that’s difficult to forecast. I have no clue who to compare him to. With a fairly cursory glance at the last five years of deadline deals, I think the closest is actually Jose Guillen when the A’s got him (player coming out of almost nowhere to be one of the best in the league.) IDK, GMs don’t like risks, I think it’s going to be hard for Beane to get much. I’m guessing (guessing) he’d have to deal with a progressive thinker like Byrnes or Daniels (that would actually be great if he could pull off a deal with the Rangers; we have what they need, they have what we need.)
But, overall, I absolutely agree that Beane should do one or the other right now. Good post Grover.
