I was just looking at Carlos Quentin's wiki page...

After noticing his 900 OPS this season, and thought shucks, wouldn’t it have been nice if the A’s had drafted him.

Or if they had traded Christopher Carter for him, instead of receiving him for Haren. A’s got the wrong end of that? Hopefully patrol craft can eventually put up what Quentin is doing.

by RenoTy on Jul 15, 2008 9:22 PM PDT reply actions

Hitting for incredible power in High A. 26 ish homers I think.

His average is coming around too – .260ish I think. Meant to be manning 3rd and one of the corners in the outfield too (though sadly not at the same time, he’s no Jeter).

Exact quote in today's paper

This is the sixth year of the World Series home-field advantage being determined by the All-Star Game winner. How do you feel it’s going?

I feel even better than I did when I first did it. There’s an intensity in this game that was missing. You had guys leaving by the fifth or sixth inning. But last year, when the National League rallied in the ninth inning I saw every player in the dugout, watching and cheering.

People say, “You ought to give the advantage to the team with the best record.” We can’t do that, for pragmatic reasons. We can’t wait that long to work on it.
