Huston Street Hides From Media
Every article I have read from yesterday's game there is no mention from Street. He clearly hid from the media and showed no strength, at a time when he needs to be accountable for his actions. He is very lucky he plays for Oakland otherwise he would have been ripped to shreds. This is unacceptable and shows disrespect both to his team and to the fans. He needs to grow up and learn to face his problems head on. In my mind it is important that your closer has this kind of mentatlity both on and off the field.

that's a correct assessment
we don’t need Street’s analysis.
Watch the damn game.
The story is Willits, not Street. What’s he gonna say, “I sucked!”? That’d be real enlightening. And unnecessary.

No No No. This info was just below the above info
Street ate a lot of chili and nachos before his outing while he was down in the bull pen and well he was busy after the game taking care of some much need personal business and as a result was unavailable for the media.

So thats why he blew the save...
I’ve always wondered what happens if a ballplayer gets a sudden case of the runs right in the middle of a long inning out in the field. It’s had to have happened…and in some cases it’s probably been bad enough to affect level of play…... It’s actaully kinda weird that I’ve thought about that.

Huston was standing on the mound hours after the loss, screaming at the top
of his lungs. I BLEW THE SAVE, but the media was in the locker room looking for him, then someone in the locker room said everyone go look at Huston, but by time all the media got out to the mound, Street was gone, and on the Jumbotron was a picture of Street, singing, Run, run, run as fast you can! You can’t catch me, I’m The Gingerbread Man!”

You clearly have all your facts straight and are a strong individual.
Clearly from his past behavior we can infer that he is a weak indivdual. You are correct that this is unacceptable and he should be suspended from playing in any A’s games until this Thusrday. Does that sound appropriate to you or should we DFA him immediately? Maybe we trade him straight up to the Angels for K-Rod. Now he’s a strong performer!

I have heard that he is a decent closer and if the A's trade Street
they may be in the market for F-Rod but I have also seen and hear that he is not a popular guy.

Too late! The A's just signed F-Rod to a 17 year contract for 2.4 billions dollars, then DFA'd him!

This was a bit much here. He blew a save. It happens. Let’s not attack the kid. Now when Huston “comes out of hiding” and kicks you…don’t wonder why.

Reason for departure
My friend and I attended the game and then immediately headed to the Oakland Airport to catch a flight. Houston and his wife were ahead of us in the security line. Probably on their way home to Texas for a much needed/ deserved All Star break. Later, we also spotted Barton and Davis in the departure area. Hopefully, the guys come back rested/healthy and ready to rack up 90 wins in 2008!

I think being forced to talk to the media is one of the most asinine things athletes are forced to endure
I don’t care what they have to say, and I’m not really sure why anybody else does, either.

I enjoy hearing what they have to say when they WANT to talk
but not when they don’t and are just giving banal answers for the sake of the interview.

I'm kinda torn on the issue. The players can avoid the media because it's their right.
However, if the media weren’t around to write about every tiny detail than salaries would have never reached this level. The media helps make these athletes what they are today so they generally owe it to them to answer a few questions IMO. If Huston had to catch a plane than I’m certainly okay with that too!
If I had a choice to either a. makes millions of dollars but deal with a camera in front of my face whenever a guy had one or b. live a private life and play baseball for much less money than I would choose a.
Was Black Snake Moan a comedy or a drama?

agree on being torn, with the added tension point of ...
... really disliking it when the media start to see themselves as The People’s Tribunal, and comport themselves accordingly, passing judgment (implicitly and explicitly) on non-performance-related aspects of players for our benefit.
I told them 'My game is like a blog.' Because I don't know what a blog is, but it don't sound good. @('.')@

You might always choose A
But I’m not sure you could actually say that without enduring B for a while. Personally, I’m a fairly private, keep-to-myself person and I would not be thrilled with having a bunch of lowlifes taking pictures of me every time I went to get the mail. True, this is the “media” to an unhealthy extreme and far more intrusive than answering a couple questions in the locker room, but I get why guys just might not feel like talking. I guess i’m just not too concerned with the reason. If he had somewhere to be or just didn’t quite feel like talking on a bad day, whatever. That doesn’t mean he hates the fans or anything.
Oh, who am I kidding? I’d choose A and hire big scary dudes to beat up the annoying media members. :)

What's he gonna say? The Angels caught a ton of breaks
Hunter gets a weak infield hit to 3rd. It there weren’t 2 strikes, Hanrahan :-) is playing closer against the bunt and probably makes the play. First Angel’s lucky break.
Next guy gets a soft liner to center field. But the Angels catch another break, cause it was on a 3-2 pitch, so Hunter is running and gets to 3rd. Any other count and he’s at 2nd.
The sac fly was good hitting by the Angels.
Sciosa bunts with 1 out, very unusual ploy to get Willits to 2nd. Then another weak infield hit scores Willits.
Any infield hit is somewhat lucky, and the Angels got two. Not exactly Street’s fault.
