2008 MiLB Futures Game
Cant wait to see Cahill and Anderson. Henry Rodriguez should be fun to watch. And just how did Cliff Pennington end up on the USA Team? Should be great to watch! Also get to see all young great talent young the Major Leagues. Last year we had Jay Bruce, Joba Chamberlain, Clay Buchholz, Jacoby Elsburry and alot more great young talent to watch.

Well his sinker sat at
88-91. His curve looked good. But its hard to get loosened up when you only pitch 1 inning. When he gets warmed up he prob adds a few ticks. A lot of reports I read say he work 90-92.
When will then be now? Soon.
Also interesting Gameday had Cahill at 92-93
GameDay is usually pretty spot on.

GameDay uses stadium guns
Which are always a couple mph higher. I wouldn’t trust gameday’s pitch speeds ever.

Yeah, Anderson's looked a little wild. Struggled to find the strike zone.
Still, the pick off move was pretty nice.
anderson velocity
at the time of trade said high 80’s, throwing low 90’s now
game so far.
Our guys have looked pretty good, Pennington almost made a highlight reel double play.
Cahill looked in the zone. He’s the real deal. Dare I say I saw some Harden in there? (just a little!)
Anderson looked nervous, but those pickoffs made me laugh.

Pretty much.
I want some more pop in our lineup…

I thought I read somewhere that
the whole all star game weekend is available on mlb.tv or somethin.

I got MLB.tv free this week b/c I voted for the final two roster spots
Which was sweet because I got to see Gallagher.
I think you may be able to get the game itself free anyway.
As an aside, Gammons on Gallagher: “I’d be shocked if he doesn’t win more games than Rich Harden in the next few years”
Harden set the bar pretty low at 38
in his first few.

I think MLBtv will archive it after the game.
Should be able to watch it there.

Is H-Rod related to Eveland

HROD is dealing now...
hits 100mph…wow!
"Twenty minutes," says Jack Sr. "Thank god for Billy Beane."
Starting a relief prospect
Steve Phillips (I think) was just saying how H-Rod projects as a closer type, but the A’s are starting him to develop the secondary pitches. He likes that idea.
I think I do, too. The more innings the better, as long as it’s not overworking a guy. I’d rather a guy who is going to end up a reliever in the majors get those innings as a starter in the minors than some roster filler 5th starter guy. Do all teams do this?

Does HROD have an offspeed..
or changeup pitch though? Primarily fastball-sliders…..if he gets a + changeup, jeez!
"Twenty minutes," says Jack Sr. "Thank god for Billy Beane."

Holy crapballs
Going from 100 to 84… that’s… just not right.
If he can learn to control his pitches, he’s going to be pretty unstoppable.

ah thanks...
watching multiple Gameday feeds and didnt notice that 85mph “slider” until you noted it…..
"Twenty minutes," says Jack Sr. "Thank god for Billy Beane."
Seeing this kid pitch in Stockton was one thing
Seeing him hitting 100 in Yankee Stadium then coming back to put the guy away like he just did for the third strikeout, that’s another.

this guy is like a combination of eveland (4 pitch walk), harden (97-100mph, 3Ks), and haren (falling down).

Futrues game versus all star game
Am I alone in thinking that the futures game is more interesting than the all star game?
The prospects are players that most of us have not seen before versus players that we have seen a lot.
I have not been interested in the All star game for years but I look forward to the futures game very year.

The futures game is definately more interesting than the All-Star game.
I look forward to the Home Run Derby too though – I’m not a chick, but I still dig the long ball!
